Carolina tradeup scenario

OC2.0 : 3/28/2020 8:30 pm
I've seen them mentioned in various threads still about going up for a QB. That's not gonna happen with Bridgewater in place. They could sit tight & take Love if that's what they want.
That said, maybe they could be coveting somebody not a QB. Simmons for example. How's this for another scenario: We trade with SD & get whatever from them then turn around & trade with Car. We get a hand full of picks AND the OL of are choice.
Thank you for your time reading a cabin fever induced dream.
If we do trade down we just have to hope we get our guys still

Having extra picks is GREAT if you hit on your picks. But if you take a lower graded guy a few spots later and he turns out to be "average" and the guy you could have had is an All-Pro type game-changer (Okudha and Simmons perhaps?) you go down as making a big franchise changing mistake.
I'm not sold on Bridgewater being the long term solution there
PatersonPlank : 3/28/2020 8:34 pm : link
I can definitely see them moving up and bringing in a top rookie QB to learn under Bridgewater for a year or two. I'd love to trade places with them, for the right deal of course.
You Think Tedy Bridgewater
Capt. Don : 3/28/2020 8:34 pm : link
is going to stop them from going and getting the guy they want?

Your scenario is correct if they value Love equal or greater than Tua/Herbert but what if is the other way around like most people believe?
That would be sweet but if you think that the top of the draft
Ivan15 : 3/28/2020 8:42 pm : link
Consists of 2 Or 3 QBs and 3 or 4 defenders (including Brown here), why would you trade down to the next tier?

Only if you believe a couple of the OTs are in the same tier. One OT may be in the tier with the defenders, but not more than one. That is really a stretch.
My trade down wish

1 - trade #4 pick to Maimi for #5 and an extra pick 3rd or maybe a 2nd
2 - trade #5 pick to the Chargers for #6 and an extra pick in the 3rd or the 2nd

Pick #6 - Isaiah Simmons

1 - trade #4 pick to Maimi for #5, 3rd round and OT?
2 - trade #5 pick to the Chargers for #6 and an extra pick in the 4th and OL?
In my scenario we get two veterans who may just start on this horrible OL? Or some kind of player(s) we need?
Pick #6 - Isaiah Simmons
I think Miami will trade up ...
Manny in CA : 3/28/2020 9:16 pm : link

To grab Tua with the Lions' pick.

We'll be sitting pretty at #4 with Okuda, Simmons, and Hebert on our lap. The Chargers (at #6) will yield the best trade ammunition. (I talked about it in my "fearless" draft) ....

We take our choice our choice of the best OTs at #6. then use our #2, Chargers #2 (and possibly Evan Engram) to move all the way back up to #12 (Raiders) to grab (4.28) Henry Ruggs. Great article about him in the Post ....

If you're going to fantasize about multiple draft-day trades...
Leg of Theismann : 3/28/2020 10:04 pm : link
Why not go all out?

Let's trade down to #5 with the Dolphins so they can get Tua.
Then we can trade down to #6 with the Chargers so they can get Herbert.
Then we can trade down to #7 with the Panthers so they can draft Simmons (or whoever they covet).
Then we can trade down to #8 with the Cardinals...

By the end of round 1 we'll have every team's 2nd round draft pick... (Mr. Burns voice) Exxx-cellent.

Why stop at Arizona?

The Giants should make the same trade (where they drop just one spot in RD 1) with teams 9-32. All they have to do is convince every team that if they don't trade up one spot with the Giants that the Giants will pick THEIR player that they're full-bloom in love with.

That way the Giants will have pick 32 in RD 1 and all the picks in the second round except the first three.

Get it done Dave!
Would love to see it but

I think panthers are in tank mode for the two qbs next year and will go with Simmons or brown.

LOL Precisely! (if you read the very last sentence of my post that's exactly the end-game I was getting at.)
The Pats have always been masters of multiple trade ...
Manny in CA : 3/29/2020 1:06 am : link

Up and Downs. Where they made it a science is how they ended up with multiple 1st round picks, so often, throughout the years,

What's the old saying - "the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer" !

Why is Jax being excluded as a trade down partner ?
Spider56 : 3/29/2020 9:36 am : link
They have #9, 20, 42, 73 and 3 picks in the 4th round to play with. They can’t possibly be all in with Minshew ... The first 8 picks of the draft will most likely be 4 QBs, Brown, Simmons, Okudah and 1 of the OTs, leaving OT #2 for the Giants ...

Jax would be my preferred partner if we can get 9, 20, 73
Looking at the GBN value board you could take the 2nd best OT at 9 a center or LB like Queeen/Murray at 20, C/OT/LB at 36, 73. The OL is rebuilt the middle of the defense is stronger and BPA after that.
best
This would be my preference
Dave on the UWS : 3/29/2020 12:42 pm : link
as well. Especially if they really like Wirfs. I suspect he won’t be the #1 rated tackle on most boards.
