is watching the end of the game via a very fuzzy feed from a Philly station. Game was blacked out in NYC area.
I was too young to really follow that season but as I got a couple of years older I listened to the highlights album narrated by Marv Albert over and over again to the point where I "remember" that season very well. Damn that album was great.
The game by the way was a total blowout. Lakers closed the gap in garbage time to make it seem more respectable. Always kind of amazed me that a team with West, Chamberlain and Baylor could be non-competitive in a game 7 against a team essentially without it's best player. Emotion is a big part of sports.
A good friend was given two tickets by business associates.
A few days earlier he and I watched, I believe, game five in a bar in NYC as it wasn't available where we lived in NJ. Stallworth defending Wilt stands out.
Years later, another freelance consultant and I lunched occasionally in a midtown restaurant on the east side where we ran into Willis a few times.
Later still, I umpired some celebrity fundraising tennis matches and had a chance to talk to Earl the Pearl.
Good memories of watching top-flight teamwork perform at the highest level.
having Rosh Hashanah dinner with Earl Monroe. It was a very surreal experience. He and his wife are hysterical and really good people. We met them once or twice before at parties, as my wife's brother had a friend whose GF (now wife) lived near them in Harlem and they got into some business together. It was really wild when in walks Earl and Marita. They loved being part of the Jewish celebration.
A few years ealier, his wife accused my wife and her sister of smoing pot in the bathroom to deflect from the fact that she did.
Not me, though. I listened to it on the radio.

Are you saying people lie? :)
