I'm not talking who prefers the Chiefs to the 49ers as a franchise, but which style were you more envious of? You had two teams that couldn't be more different and at times, I found myself envious of both styles.
That said, given my age and personal background, I found myself admiring how rapidly the 49ers turned themselves around with great defense and a running game.
If you were a GM, would you advocate for the 49er or KC model in 2020?
Explosive offense is fun...but I am so sick and tired as a Giants fan to see terrible defense. Every championship this team has won was tied to great defense in some way.
Even 2011 (which was probably the Giant's weakest Superbowl defense) had a unit that turned it on in the playoffs.
Niners were like the 1990 Giants.
What's funny is the 49ers,coming off that loss, traded Buckner for what might be a wide receiver.Reminds me of the Seahawks losing to the Patriots, than going out and getting Jimmy Graham.
I think we are heading that way.
Watching a high-scoring game is exciting, I get it, but the whole time I’m annoyed that the D can’t make a stop.
It's hard to be jealous of that because it's rare and not easily duplicated. It's like being jealous of the 1980's Edmonton Oilers because of Gretzky. There is only one.
49ers were more of a traditional build so in my mind that's more the type of team you can build if you're the Giants - but you have to hit on your draft picks, and sign the right FA's or you get stuck in a perpetual rebuild.
So, either you get lucky and land a Mahomes or you need a competent front office. I think the latter is more realistic - though neither is easy.
I am not a big fan of Garapolo as a player, even if he is related to Mike G.
And the running game.
The pass plays were there for the Niners in the Super Bowl, Jimmy G came up short a number of times. Can't blame that on Shanahan.
Long term, I will take the 49ers who may be the next dynasty until a team with a better young QB copies them.
Then again, watching your team score at will on anyone is super exciting. We haven't had that kind of offense in 10+ years. The Plaxico shot himself year was so much fun.
The Giants defense seems so far away frm tbe 49ers....
I have to admit - I did not think their front office would turn that team around that fast. They did an excellent job.
The Niners got hammered on their win total by the sharps before the season, which was interesting because you rarely see them on the over side on win totals. People paying attention knew that team was good.
