Now I'm feeling more and more confident that this secondary could be "special" due to some serious talent:
Bradberry, Baker (2nd year improvement), Beal, Ballantine
Peppers and Love (2nd year improvement)
I just see young talent, all 27 and under, starting.
similar size, neither is a blazer, both break up a lot of passes, good ball skills, play physical, etc. Obviously Webster was a bit of a late bloomer once he got in the right scheme, and truthfully I think that's going to be the story of this defense for the next couple years. Is Patrick Graham going to be able to put these guys in positions to play up to their best?

If Graham is what Judge thinks he is we are in for a treat. If not...

That’s a good comparison. Solid ball skills who are better in man coverage than zone. As you mentioned Webster struggled early in his career because Tim Lewis used a lot of zone coverages which Webster struggled mightily in.
Once Spags came aboard he built his scheme around his players strengths and Webster lived up to his draft status playing man coverage. From what’s being said about Graham he too will build a scheme around the player strengths which is why we will see a hybrid scheme.

Seriously though, this group has obvious talent but instead of improving communication over the season they looked more and more confused.
I hope the teaching philosophy of the assembled defensive staff will give them the knowledge, technique and importantly confidence to be a good unit.
Lack of preseason time because of the virus may be their biggest hurdle.
