Seahawks cut FS Tedric Thompson

Giantsfan79 : 3/31/2020 1:22 pm
25 years old. 4th round pick from 2017. Not saying he's a great player but would be an upgrade over Antoine Bethea, and provide camp competition for Julian Love. Doubt he's going to get a multiyear deal so a one year contract may work.
exactly the type of player we should be signing
Eric on Li : 3/31/2020 1:25 pm : link
he has ball skills in CF. 13 INT's in last 3 years at Colorado. 7 in his senior year. From his draft profile:

Quote:
Seattle continues to add depth to the Legion of Boom, which started to show some signs of regression last season. Thompson is a rangy, ball-hawking safety who should be a subpackage addition to a team that managed just 11 interceptions in '16. --Mark Dulgerian

TEDRIC THOMPSON - ( New Window )
Sy had him rated as a 74

no write up on him though. He had him as the 16th ranked S that year.

Pete Carroll knows Def ... If he cut him as his low salary it makes me wary.
Yeah, no trade partners, low salary, Seattle doesn't need space

at the moment.

What's the real scoop on this guy?
OK, maybe clearing space for Clowny?

But, you would think they could have picked up a low draft pick for him if he was any good.
amtoft - he's mostly had injury issues
Eric on Li : 3/31/2020 1:32 pm : link
he started 16 games over his 3 years and pulled down 3 INTs.

obviously they aren't cutting a superstar on a rookie deal, but here he might be able to help. Especially if it's mostly in a coverage role.
last yr he started all 6 gms until inj, then SEA traded for Diggs

this sort of reminds me of Darian Thompson had injury issues here, got bypassed on depth chart, and then ended up in Dallas where he's ended up being a contributor.

No risk addition for a young player who showed promise as recently as last year (he had 2 ints in those 6 games).
I’d be interested

He’s a rangy FS, which we need. I recall he had so many INTs at Colorado.

Seems like the Cowboys would be all over this
Sy rated him the 17th safety that year

with a grade of 74

He would be a wise pickup

He’s not a star but he would be a valuable addition to the secondary. He would be a nice compliment to Peppers and Love. Thompson could play the CF role allowing Peppers to play closer to the LOS where he is at his best. Love could help out in the slot.
