Proposed Trade

Billystrow : 3/31/2020 4:45 pm
Giants (#4) swap first round picks with Jacksonville (#20) for Ngakoue. They can get their franchise QB, and we get the defensive playmaker that we desperately need.

If that is not enough, we can swap second round picks in 2021, or whatever is reasonable.

Hopefully one of the top tier tackles are available at #20. If not, we can target center, safety, or BPA.

Just gotta figure how to pay Ngakoue.
Not enough in return.

To mov from 4 to 20 for only Ngahoui is not enough compensation. Throw in a third and a later round pick as well. 16 slots is a lot and the drop off in talent is huge.
The only problem
Gman11 : 3/31/2020 4:51 pm : link
is paying Ngakoue after they just tagged Williams. You can draft Simmons with the #4 pick and he's cost effective for 4 years.

Beside that why would the Jags give up Ngakoue and their first round pick to move up. They're more than likely wanting the 4th and keeping their own.
I was just about to post and ask
gmenrule-va : 3/31/2020 4:51 pm : link
what a trade would look like with Ngakoue as part of the package.
9

Included or no?
Jags give giants 9 and Ngaocke

For 4. Then we can still get our OT

and their 2nd.
Wow, this has never been discussed before.

Great idea.
This trade would have to happen before the draft
Chip : 3/31/2020 5:22 pm : link
because Yannick doesn't have a contract after this year. Won't happen.
I could see Jacksonville gets the 4th pick
Rjanyg : 3/31/2020 7:25 pm : link
NY Giants get Yannick Ngakoue, pick 9 and Jacksonville’s 3rd rounder.

This would give NYG
1. Ngakoue
2. Pick 9 select a Left Tackle
3. Pick 36 Select a Center or Free Safety
4. Jax 3rd round pick, select Center or Free Safety

We would have 8 more selections to address:
WR, RB depth, OG depth, OT depth, LB depth, CB depth

Hey Billystrow...

No thanks, Eric. I used to play FF till I wound up with NFC East players playing against the Giants. Haha!
No

Swap 4 and 9. Then I’d do the deal.
I'd trade our #4 & 5th for their #9, 3rd round pick and Ngouke
SGMen : 4/1/2020 7:32 am : link
We would still have a shot at OT at #9; we'd have another premium pick in 3rd round; and, we'd have our ER that can lift our defense.

However, you would have to have a long-term, 4 year type deal in place and essentially signed prior to the trade. We of course could make it happen.

The other dilemma we face is how highly do we rate the #4 pick? Who is likely to be on the table when we pick? Getting the contract done beforehand isn't likely given Jags would want to know their guy is in place at #4 FIRST, right?
This sounds great!

I would love to see a defensive front with both Leo Williams and Ngakoue. But, we would have to rescind the tag on Leo to get this done, right?
Absolutely not.

We go down 16 spots plus have to pay Nguakwe 20 mill a year. No way.
Who knew Jan 2020 had a troll class too?

I would swap firsts in exchange for Ngakoue,
Section331 : 4/1/2020 3:27 pm : link
but the 9th pick, not the 20th. Maybe you throw in a late round pick as well.

Ngakoue is a good rising player, but he is due a lot of money, and as JonC has pointed out, he is not an elite ER.
i dont like the idea
djm : 4/1/2020 3:34 pm : link
of paying a boat load of resources for a one dimensional passrusher, as good as he is. He's OSI redux. I'd pay tons for young Michael Strahan, JJ Watt or Mack, but this guy is not that caliber of player. He's a great passrusher and that's where the greatness stops.
i think guys like Ngakoue can be had
djm : 4/1/2020 3:40 pm : link
we might even have a guy close to that in Carter and Zimines. Give them another year, especially Ximines who looked good as a rookie from a small school.

This move screams win now. I know we need star power on D, but Ngakoue is not a transcendent player. You better be getting back HOF talent in that kind of a deal.
