NFL Plans full season and full stadiums

During a conference call with reporters held on Tuesday, NFL general counsel Jeff Pash said the league is planning for a full season.

“That’s my expectation,” Pash said. “Am I certain? I’m not certain I will be here tomorrow. But I’m planning on it, and I’m planning on a full season.”

Pash separately said that the season would begin on time, and that the games would be played before fans in full stadiums (or, in some cities, stadiums that would not be full unrelated to the virus). He nevertheless acknowledged that much will depend on the public-health situation. But he mentioned that the modeling the league has received suggests that “we may not have to get very far down that road.”

Why wouldn’t they?

The season starts in September.
God willing

It would be great if this came true
Wishful thinking I suspect.

Not sure why they felt the need to put this out there today.
Honestly, they need to just shut the fuck up about this
Saos1n : 3/31/2020 6:37 pm : link
Plan ahead, make your move and STFU about it
Makes more sense to take this approach...

than Herbstreit's panic.

there's reports that coaches and front office execs think it will be impossible the season will start on time with the way things are going

??

People/journalists are asking questions. This is what corporations and businesses do. Walt Disney World is now promoting bookings for displaced reservations last month and April for June 1st.
No reason to to plan for it

whether it happens is another matter (I think it will be fine by then, just my opinion).

Why?
1 day at a timr
nygiants16 : 3/31/2020 6:42 pm : link
people need to stop projecting like they know what is going to happen, 1 day at a time
Why does it matter if they are public about this
UConn4523 : 3/31/2020 6:49 pm : link
if it doesn’t work out what’s the worst that happens, you got your hopes up?

i am talking about the people projecting doomsday and there will be no sports or anything until next year
The truth is

we dont know. Saying this scenario is an impossibility is just as silly as saying that it's a certainty.

That said I do think a gradual rollout of a functioning economy is going to happen sooner than September.

The thing people dont seem to grasp is that this isn't Ebola. The purpose of the shutdown is to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed. Once we're over the curve things should gradually get back to normal. They aren't going to keep the economy tanked for a year.

That seems reckless. What the nfl is doing is fine in my book.
If there is a sport that can play any time of the year

its football, short season, weekly games.

You can play Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter.

They should plan to postpone and align with NCAA
I understand what they're doing.

My company is sort of doing the same thing -- planning some events for Q3 and beyond on the assumption that life will be returning to normal.

The trouble is, until there's a vaccine and/or an effective treatment, either or both cheap and widely available, it's going to be very hard to get people to gather in crowds. Especially large, crowded stadiums with congested corridors, concession lines and restrooms. Yeah, some people will risk their lives to see an NFL game, maybe enough to fill a stadium. And by then a lot of people will have had the virus and recovered, and so should be safe from reinfection. But it's going to be very hard to make NFL football work in September.

The league has to plan as if it's happening, and maybe it will, but probably not.

Saw that Johnson & Johnson is making progress on a vaccine and expects it to be available in "early 2021." I don't know what "early 2021 means -- January? March? And I don't know what "available" means: Mass production? Hundreds of millions of doses? Or limited availability for medical professionals and the most vulnerable, gradually expanding for months? But that is the most optimistic timetable I've heard of.
Good luck with that

you mean the same Johnson and Johnson who has a class action law suit against them for their cancer causing talcum "baby" powder....oh isn't that convenient for them.
