CBS - NFL trades that "need to happen"

NYG22 : 4/1/2020 12:50 pm
Jaguars trade Yannick Ngakoue to the Giants

Jaguars get: 2020 first-round pick (fourth overall), 2020 second-round pick (36th overall), 2021 second-round pick

Giants get: Yannick Ngakoue, 2020 first-round pick (ninth overall)

I think casualties by virtue of hurling themselves out the nearest window among BBI members would be numerous.

Imagine choosing Ngakoue (at $18mm per) + Andrew Thomas and not having next's year's 2nd rounder over Simmons + Cesar Ruiz or best available OT and keep next's year's 2nd rounder.
crappy get

That trade would really piss me off

Way to much

transactions have to happen, Giants don't have the cap space for that without restructuring someone or trading someone (Williams)?
We need more 2nd picks, not less
George from PA : 4/1/2020 12:59 pm : link
I see a starting center, FS and WR in the 2nd rd.

So I will trade for Yannick Ngakoue and their 9th for the 4th....but the Jaguars need to throw additional kicker....a 3rd could do it.

As long as, we can sign Yannick.

I would do Engram and the 4th for Ngakoue and the 9th. The CBS deal is terrible.
yeah -- no

I don't give up additional picks -- I want additional picks from the Jags or I'm not doing it besides a swap of 1rst rounders

in no way do I give up additional picks!!! That would piss me off to no end
Holy crap
UberAlias : 4/1/2020 1:02 pm : link
hell no.
I know we don't want to give up extra picks
ShockNRoll : 4/1/2020 1:08 pm : link
but to get Ngakoue, a swap of first rounders is not going to appeal to Jacksonville. Two second rounders is too much, but I can't imagine Jacksonville does not ask for at least one second rounder and maybe a 4th/5th in return, in addition to the 4/9 swap. That is, unless they are dead set on taking a QB, but if you guys think a swap of 4 and 9 is going to be enough to pry away one of the premiere pass rushers in the game, you're going to be extremely disappointed.

who was coming off a better season than Yannick was traded for the #29 pick and a very late 2nd.

And they want us to swap #4 with #9 (which is pretty much worth a late 1st by itself).

Then also trade an early 2nd and potentially another early 2nd?

The value of this trade is #4 for #9 and Yannick. That is the minimum trade. Since Jags are in a salary crunch I probably would try to squeeze something else out of them. But giving up 1 high 2nd rounder + another potential high 2nd with a the swap is ludicrous.
I could see a swap of picks in the 1st and 2nd
Rudy5757 : 4/1/2020 1:10 pm : link
and some late picks like a 5 and a 7.

A trade is not happening unless they get 1st round picks. they will just let him play out. I dont see the Giants giving up more picks this draft unless its to trade up.
we would we drop back 5 slots
UConn4523 : 4/1/2020 1:13 pm : link
and give up two 2nds for the right to pay him? I'd be livid if this happened.
I'm in no rush
rasbutant : 4/1/2020 1:19 pm : link
just sign him next year.
This would be a "No"

if you could stop laughing enough for them to hear it.
But..

The Giants should not think of trading for Yannik.
They would be better of signing Clowney for $18M rather than trading draft picks for Yannik and then paying him $18M / year.

I might consider a trade of Yannik for Williams straight up but nothing else.If you look at the PFF rankings Williams is the better player
Yannik is a liability against the run.

Terrible trade for Giants
KDavies : 4/1/2020 1:39 pm : link
Two premium picks and moving out of prime draft position for the right to pay an overhyped player. No thanks

we wouldn't be able to unless we released the cap hold of LW which would make DG look like a complete buffoon. Could you imagine give up a 3rd and 5th round pick for a non playoff team basically for nothing?

Another reason the trade was horrible it limited are options of acquiring a player at an actual position of need instead of forcing us to basically sign LW because of the trade.

Hell NO.
Red Dog : 4/1/2020 2:07 pm : link
Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Don't trade multiple picks for one player. He's not that good and won't make enough of a difference.

Fix the OL before anything else.
Ngakoue
Pete in MD : 4/1/2020 2:08 pm : link
is very vocal on Twitter about his displeasure with the Jaguars. They may be forced to trade him below market value.
We have to give up picks
JoeyBigBlue : 4/1/2020 2:10 pm : link
And pay Ngakwe 20 mill a year. Yeah no. Fuck outta here with that.
I'd do that trade for our 3rd not second
Giantsfan79 : 4/1/2020 2:43 pm : link
Ngakoue for a 3rd round pick and moving down 5 spots in the 1st round seems like good value.

By locking up Williams to a long term deal. They would back load Yannick's deal most likely. This trade is dogshit though
I was thinking that's way too steep until I read your
barens : 4/1/2020 3:07 pm : link
last sentence.

We get a really good pass rusher and left tackle, instead of a linebacker and center and next years 2? Actually sounds more appealing when you put it that way.
That would be a terrible trade
Mike from Ohio : 4/1/2020 3:16 pm : link
for the Giants.

The Jaguars would move up 5 spots, get an additional 2nd round pick this year, plus an additional 2nd next year, all for an above average player who wants a new contract?

Is there anyone on BBI who would support that trade?

No fucking way.
Section331 : 4/1/2020 3:21 pm : link
That is an AWFUL trade. I'd agree to Ngakoue and a swap of firsts. Maybe, MAYBE, throw in a late round pick.
People have really overrated this guy
j_rud : 4/1/2020 3:47 pm : link
Nice player. But a high 1st/2nd as well as a future (likely high) second? Get outta here...
Horribly conceived
allstarjim : 4/1/2020 4:47 pm : link
CBS has it entirely wrong. To move up 5 spots in the first round, and ahead of the Dolphins, Chargers, and Panthers, it's the Jaguars that need to throw the cherry on top, NOT the Giants.

For
PaulN : 4/1/2020 5:17 pm : link
The honor to overpay him, magnificent deal for the Jags. Build through the draft, overpaying for other teams stars worked great for the Redskins.
Signing
PaulN : 4/1/2020 5:19 pm : link
Clowney is just as stupid.
If the Giants are giving up all of that ...
FStubbs : 4/1/2020 7:31 pm : link
... forget Ngakoue. The player that Jacksonville would need to give up is Josh Allen.
Bad trade, even for DG...
STLGiant : 4/2/2020 10:32 am : link
....maybe I could justify it IF the Giants were one player away from a deep playoff run...the current Giant defense needs WAY more than one player to give up that much! No thanks.

Exactly. The Jaguars have a problem. Ngakoue doesn't want to play on the franchise tag, and he probably wants to get out of Jacksonville, and it seems they are unwilling to meet his contract demands.

Therefore, the Giants would only be trading for him to have to pay him a huge deal, AND they would be forfeiting not one, but TWO 2nd round picks as well as dropping 5 spots in the first round so Jacksonville can draft Herbert or Tua?

They are insane. We get Ngakoue plus at least one additional pick to move from 4 to 9. And the additional pick has to be a good one.

People need to rethink the market especially as it pertains to Yannick. He has lit the match burning down the Jaguars House. Caldwell will need to find a trade partner soon as the damage is being done. I linked his latest tweets in the past 24 hours. He is going full scorch-earth and it will only get worse for them.
