Tua Tagovailoa’s draft stock could take a hit with sports at a standstill amid a report that “multiple teams” now prefer Justin Herbert “because of injuries and the unknowns,” according to NFL draft analyst Matt Miller. |

“In a normal year, you could honestly make the argument that Tua should be the No. 2 overall pick and maybe the No. 1 overall pick,” a high-level team executive told Miller on Sunday. “But because you’re taking a third party’s word for it when it comes to his medicals at this point in time that teams are just going to be a little bit hesitant.” |
All this qb talk is good news for Giants fans wanting a trade down though.
You can't hide your lying eyes.
They are very different QB prospects. Teams prefer certain traits depending on their philosophy. So it's no surprise some of them will have Herbert ahead of Tua.
I have Herbert as a Top 8 prospect in this class. Best size. Best arm. Best Wonderlic. Healthy. Athlete. Experience. Winner.
Cincy had a deal with Buffalo to jump ahead of Miami if Jones was available. Blockbuster trade in the works?
Interested teams can agree on a well-respected arm's-length assessor, arrange for a Covid-appropriate exam session and share the results.
Just like everyone wants to discuss the Barkley pick, the pick of Jones + Simmons over Allen + Herbert or Burrow this year will be discussed. Obviously, time will tell which was the better combo
I think there’s some risk in either. I guess the book on Herbert is he was miscast in the Oregon offense. I heard the draft scout guy who was a guest on Big Blue Banter pod say he thought Herbert could push the ball downfield and ball like Josh Allen in Buffalo. I’m still not sold on Josh Allen, but I take the point and see the comp. But, he’d need to be better than Allen to be taken before Tua. A lot better I would think. And he may be.
I don’t know, but is it really that big of a deal that teams didn’t meet in person with Tua? I would think the medicals could be done remotely, maybe not 100% but I mean, 98 or 99%? They can put him through the chalk talk on video just fine. And it’s not like there isn’t enough video on the guy to know he’s a winner on the field.
So, yeah, like someone said above, it’s lying season.

Winner???? Slow down there buddy, this dude folded against terrible teams and his accuracy isn’t where u would assume it should be. Might wanna go back and watch all of his games, Herbert definitely leaves a lot to be desired on the field. If it wasn’t for Tua injury’s he’d be a lock to be taken before Herbert, Tua has actually performed under pressure and won a chip coming off the bench in a championship game. I’ll take that all day over someone who folds when the pressure is on the line
I actually think that it means neither Tua nor Herbert will be considered top 4 picks. So it actually could be bad news for a trade down.
In fact, during the Colin thread he mentioned that he wasn't hearing a lot about teams wanting to trade up to the 3 or 4 spots in RD for a QB.
Yeah, winner.
