"I know there's sites that have already been discussed - I'm not sure if I should even say this publicly - but there's four or five sites that are up in the air that MLB and the union have slightly discussed that these are spots that have the resources, facilities, hotels that could host a major-league team if we get to that point," Britton said. "If we have to do that in empty stadiums for the safety of the public then that's the right move," Britton said. "Obviously I think we could possibly be a team that needs to play in a neutral site for a little while since New York's been a hotbed for this and guys are open to that." There has been some talk of extending the season into the fall, with the World Series being played in a neutral site, either under a dome or in a warm-weather city. Britton said the sides haven't discussed many specifics about scheduling right now, as the primary concern remains making sure everyone's healthy. |
They must be talking about fielding games under a hermetically sealed snow globe the size of an actual stadium.
There is no such thing as a "neutral site" in the United States.
Of course none of this matters until we get a general idea of when a team could even get together to start work outs.

"Neutral" sites means not in Yankee stadium (or the NYC metro area). It sounds like that's a separate proposal besides just playing with no fans in attendance.

What I am saying is that no place in America is safe/neutral -- even locations where we currently have zero COVID-19 cases.
Agreed. And I'd be shocked if we see sports anytime soon. I think there's a real possibility we don't have an NFL season this fall.
