He was so dominating that he made listening to the game on the radio exciting. Many a Sunday making the long drive up 17 from downstate to upstate was made enjoyable listening to the announcers describe his havoc. Tried to time as to not be in the Binghamton area back then as radio reception sucked!
RE: As an aside, it bothers me when people refer to
Back in the mid to late 80s we didn’t have the mountain of info available to us or the constant stream of info like we do now. When guys were hurt we didn’t know shit other than than the injury report but when LT was on the report every fan was on notice. We’d go to the games and I just remember sitting in my seat waiting for the player intros and we’d be wondering (pretty confident but some weeks were scary) if LT was gonna play. And you’d see him stroll up in his 56 jersey just looming in the tunnel. And you felt ok as a giants fan. Played so fast and fierce. Faster end fiercer than everyone else. LT made hof players look bad.
Agree with those about the "LT" moniker if you will.
That said, I recall Taylor being ok with the Tomlinson thing back then. Bothers the shit out of me but if the real LT doesn't care I guess I will move on.
Really miss his pre snap lean in, a pure predator at his watering hole. Turned nfl quarterbacks into frightened baby impalas. Shook his hand once at rancho park g.c. As i thanked him for all the great, dominating years........there may never be another.
Its only a few minutes of plays but it perfectly displays how dominate this guy was in his prime. Joe Gibbs and Redskins do everything they can to give LT attention with various blocking assignments & players and he beats them everytime.
A few ridiculous plays in there where he is tripled-teamed, or runs across the whole field to make tackles.
he ever played. Sat up in section 311. Loved sitting there. Usually just focused on LT when we were on defense. To this day I have never seen a better backside pursuer. People focus on his sacks but his backside pursuit of plays was 2nd to none. He could go sideline to sideline and catch a RB from behind for a loss time and time again. Quietest I ever heard the stadium was when he ruptured his Achilles (I believe it was against GB).
same here. it's always bothered me.
fuckin-a-right!!!
