Bleacher Report's Matt Miller reports that there is a "quiet buzz building" that the New York Giants could select Iowa T Tristan Wirfs with the No. 4 overall pick.
At this juncture, Miller's intel indicates that Clemson's Isaiah Simmons may have the inside track to land with the Giants. But watch out for Wirfs. Writes the evaluator, "It's notable that around this time last year, the talk of Daniel Jones to the Giants heated up... " Miller notes that the difference this time around, of course, is that both Simmons and Wirfs are exceedingly logical picks for New York. Can't really go wrong either way. |

7 games at guard in college and never played OT. We are not taking a project like that with the 4th pick in the draft. We have to get starters and win games or we will have a new GM next year. Maybe Garrett. Might be why we bought him here as HC this year. DG knows this I AM SURE.
Never played OT?
Can you please go back to eating styrofoam peanuts for lunch and stop posting? [/quote. Why dont you you GF your self. and stop posting nonsense. We are not drafting this guy this guy at #4. period.
Join the club, buddy. Last year Jones was the least favorite QB for many here, including me!
And if you really want to run the ball, it's Thomas all day.
Note his agility #s (3-cone and short shuffle) were better than Wirfs, despite Wirfs' superior "athleticism" leaping and sprinting.
I favor Thomas or Wills, and think the Wirfs rumbling is subterfuge.
Because DG hates BBIers and will do all he can to spite them..
Also Wills over Wirfs easily imo I’d go Wills, Thomas, Wirfs, Becton as my ranks but I’m not a scout. Game tape it seems like Wirfs might end up moving to Guard.

You're getting close to jtgiants territory on this. Chances are we won't pick him at #4, but that also applies - statistically speaking - to every single draft prospect. The odds for the field will always far exceed the odds for any one prospect at any one draft slot. But Wirfs is almost certainly in consideration at #4.
I want to read more about how Wirfs has never played OT. Can you expand on that while I'm effing myself? Thanks in advance.
Wirfs started all 13 games in 2019, 10 at right tackle and three at left. He was named the Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year in the Big Ten, earned First-Team All-American honors by multiple outlets and was an All-Big Ten selection his junior year.
I understand what you mean, Lou. But it annoys me when people speak in certainties, like "DG knows this I AM SURE" when they don't even know what position a prospect played.
TMS in particular has a habit of posting things as though they're facts when they're anything but. Like I said before, very jtgiants-esque.
Yup. We just lived it with Flowers.
You have to pick from the choices that are there, which may not be ideal or as good as the choices at the same pick in other drafts.
As for the Flowers comparison, there was nothing that stood out about Flowers' combine, except his bench press. Wirfs is a combine star.
Doesn't mean Wirfs will be an NFL success but, athletically speaking, he's not Flowers, at all.
Everybody wants the trade down but it may not be on the table.

Who the better prospect is is debatable but Wirfs is definitely the better athlete. You're talking about a .02 difference in the short shuffle and a .07 difference in the 3 cone. Wirfs demolished him in every other combine result.
