Has anyone actually thrown a remote over a draft pick

CMicks3110 : 4/4/2020 7:41 pm
I think I did when we drafted Jeff Hatch in RD 3 in 2002. But besides that, I can't think of one instance. I was also disappointed with the Ron Dayne pick, really wanted Shaun Alexander.

Interesting thing about the 2000 draft, is of the top 20 players taken, 13 went to the pro bowl, 1 was chad penning, 1 was plaxico burress, leaving basically 5 low impact players.
yes

The only time I actually broke anything watching sports was the playoff debacle where we blew the 49er game on the road in 2003. I flipped a small table in disgust and broke some glasses.
The furthest I’ve gone is punching pillows
The_Boss : 4/4/2020 7:50 pm : link
And cursing loudly. Both instances have occurred the last 2 years. If Dave goes with Wirfs on draft night, I’m probably gonna go nuts again.
I was upset

that we took Sterling Shepard instead of Michael Thomas.

I was living at my parents then and I smashed my wicker basket laundry hamper after that one.
I literally spat on my large screen TV

at DeSean Jackson when he was running backwards for the touchdown against the Giants on the punt return. That was the only time I lost it in front of my kids.
Not over a draft pick, but

threw it at the wall at the ending of the 49ers Giants January 5, 2003 playoff game. Then I took like a 4 hour walk.

God, 38-14 lead...

Though perhaps we win that game & we don't get TC/Eli so...who knows?

A die-hard Dodgers fan (way back), had the best melt-down ever, after his Dodgers lost the World Series. He paced up and down the entire game a plug-in radio to his ear. When it was over, he threw it against the wall and almost started a fire in his apartment.

Internet wise, this is THE classic, remember ?

I used to watch games with a friend of mine who was also a Giants fan. I'd go to his place because he had the better TV. Before the game, he'd roll up all the socks he owned and put them in a laundry basket right next to his chair and would whip them at the TV at every time a play didn't please him. Never tried it myself.

We didn't have a remote to throw but that was the only time that I was really ticked off about a Giants pick.

But I have a Giant's doll that body parts are velcroed on. The head has been thrown a few times (Dayne was the one that pissed me off the most)

He was and the Giants were apparently unaware. Parcels apparently loved Jones, but I wonder if he was sending false signals to George Young.
Ron Dayne. Didn’t need him and
LauderdaleMatty : 4/4/2020 10:21 pm : link
Had that bad feeling that he was Going to be a bust. And though he had a couple good years Williams over Alan Faneca. Started the trend of athletes over football players.
For me it was JPP and Sinorice Moss
AcesUp : 4/4/2020 10:29 pm : link
JPP represented a boom/bust gamble at a position we didn't need help with at the time. I was wrong there. Not dead wrong though.

Sinorice Moss was a just a guy that I saw plenty of in college in the Big East and just knew he didn't have it. He was a clear legacy pick.

I'm not as dug in as I used to be, I mostly accept the dice roll nature of the draft now. A Brown pick this year would change that though.
No, but one of my nieces scratched the screen

3 that come to mind
Tom in NY : 4/4/2020 10:47 pm : link
William Joseph (was overweight and slow in college).

Ron Dayne (too slow for the NFL)

Jarrod Bunch (a 1st Round Fullback?)

I don't remember a lot of William Joseph hate
AcesUp : 4/4/2020 10:56 pm : link
That was a deep DT draft where the Giants were picking late, he was the one that fell. He came from that absolutely loaded Miami dynasty, which was a probably a flag in retrospect but it was a pick that was widely lauded at the time. Joseph was supposed to go earlier but "fell". I remember the Osi pick that year drawing significantly more criticism.
Brian Williams in 1989 was bad
10thAve : 4/4/2020 11:08 pm : link
Steve Atwater went two picks later. But the remote was corded back then, so it came back to me.

Lol. Thank God Young nailed the Toomer pick in round 2. I was screaming for Ray Lewis after Baltiimore took Ogden with the 4th pick. I was hoping for Simeon Rice. Horrible selection in C. Jones.
This is weird but when the Eagles chose Jerome McDougle

a while back I violently swung a dresser door and broke the hinges. He turned out to be a bust.

I remember years later, but a while ago reminiscing about this when I saw that he got cut while I was in a restaurant in Atlantic City.

I nearly spit out my bite of quesadilla when we picked Jones.

Does that count?
No, but lots of obscenities

Of the Eli Apple pick. Felt it was a gross over reach and a panic pick.

From reading this thread, the only time anyone on BBI has thrown a remote or wanted to throw a remote is when a player was taken that turned out to be awful. Or at least didn’t have a great career.

I’m calling bullshit.

Forgot about Moss. I went nuts. Watched him down here do pretty much nothing for UM for 4 years They traded down a d wasted that pic on Kiwi and then made it worse that year when the Rug w the idiot Reese most likely in his ear fell I love w one of the worst WRs in Giants history. Then they made it worse and kept him for like 5 years. Pretty much like the Marvin Austin. That gave me a stroke too
The only time I have ever done damage
bigblue1124 : 4/5/2020 12:02 pm : link
To anything Giants related is when Norwood went wide right. Now granted I had help but we were inside my small apartment in Clifton NJ watching the game in my kitchen a few TV's on the counters for viewing and a single glass top dining room table in the center of the kitchen that we all sat around.

Well kick missed everyone jumped for joy and that table top went for a ride. I was picking up glass for months, a little here a little there. It was never ending.

Been pissed about picks and have yelled at the TV but learned my lesson.
The only pick I couldn't stand
Thunderstruck27 : 4/5/2020 1:54 pm : link
was Eli Apple. Turned off the draft after that...

Also made me realized how done Reese was. If he was near me I'd have thrown the remote at him.

Most certainly.

Nothing over the draft
Matt M. : 4/5/2020 2:49 pm : link
I may get annoyed or shake my head, but I don't get too high or too low over the draft. Games are a different story. The only reason I don't throw remotes or the like is I don't want to break anything. I have thrown pillows and I scream a lot.

When my wife and I were still dating, I was at her house for a Knicks playoff game and yelled at the TV in her room. Her Mom thought I was nuts or getting violent.
