Lazy Sunday Mock with Trades

Joe in CT : 4/5/2020 4:11 pm
Good afternoon BBI, I typically do this once every year before the draft and decided this was as good a time to do this seeing we have less than 4 weeks before the draft.

Most of us would love us to trade down in round 1 and pick up extra picks and if DG can pull that off then kudos to him because trying to find the right partner and not go too far back is going to be the challenge so we can still find a way to nab extra picks and also obtain a "blue chip" prospect. One of the issues I see is both Miami and LA Chargers are going to target QBs and both should be there for the taking providing one wants Tua and the other is targeting Herbert, if for some reason they both want the SAME QB then obviously we have some leverage, should be interesting.

My mock will include 2 trades which are more than likely not going to occur but it should add some nice depth to both sides of the ball which is typically the main goal in the draft.

So here would be my selections:

1st round (4th Overall):

Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama, 6'4, 312 lbs. (My reasoning: should start immediately, also will provide depth for 2021 if we move on from Solder, also, DG tried but no trade down partner).

2nd round (36th overall); trade with Jacksonville: they receive 36 as we receive picks 42 and 116, 42nd pick:

Tyler Biadasz, OC, Wisconsin, 6'4, 314 lbs. (Reasoning, necessary depth with the injury to JH, hopefully can start or bring adequate depth to the position)

3rd round (99th overall):

Jordyn Brooks, ILB, Texas Tech, 6'0, 240 lbs. (Reasoning: adds quality depth to the LB Corps, might have the ability to play a bit on the outside).

4th round (110 overall):

Khalid Kareem, DE, Notre Dame, 6'4, 268 lbs. (Reasoning: can hopefully turn into a quality pass rush specialist which is a huge need for us).

4th round (116 overall):

Logan Wilson, OLB, Wyoming, 6'2, 241 lbs. (Reasoning: Adds a good amount of sideline to sideline radius, good tackler, can be used as a situational PR specialist as well).

4th round/5th round:(Trade pick 150 to Seattle for their pick (144), also sending Seattle one of our 7th round picks (218), 144th pick:

Isaiah Hodgins, WR, Oregon State, 6'4, 210 lbs. (Reasoning: not a burner by any stretch but can get deep, would be an excellent deep target who has great hands and agility, would need to improve his overall strength).

6th round (183rd overall):

Darrynton Evans, RB, Applachian State, 5'10, 203 lbs. (Reasoning: Quality depth behind SB, nice change of pace RB who has nice wiggle to his game as well as good hands).

7th round (238th overall):

Stephen Sullivan, TE, LSU, 6'5, 258 lbs (Reasoning: Former WR, runs good routes, good hands, needs to improve as a blocker but would be a great backup for EE).

7th round (247th overall):

Tyre Phillips, OT/OG, Miss St, 6'5, 331 lbs. (Reasoning: Adds quality depth at both OT and OG, a prospect that our New OL Coach can help improve his skill set).

7th round (255th overall):

Myles Dorn, S, North Carolina, 6'2, 205 lbs. (Reasoning: Adds depth at the FS position, has nice hands but needs to be coached up to take better angles on deep routes).

I know some on BBI who know more about some of these prospects can chime in and add your perspective and let me know who you would prefer in place of my selections, thanks!

All comments welcome, can't wait until the 23rd!!

It appears Biadasz ranking has dropped to third or fourth round.

Did you have other centers on your board?
I’d not be happy
Giant John : 4/5/2020 4:26 pm : link
With these picks. No offense but no thanks.
Sure, I would slot in

Ruiz at the 42 pick if he is still there. I also like Hennessy, but basically only like those 3 centers.
There is no consensus on the #1 tackle and in a mock draft it really

Doesn’t matter who you like at #4. If you trade down, rating comes into play. I suspect the Giants have rated at least 2 of the 4 OTs equal.
I like

the lbs that you drafted.

We need help there.

No need to be trading any picks for a wr. There are plenty of good ones available in pretty much every round.
CM,

yes, wasn't necessarily trying to trade up for a WR specifically, just turned out he was a player who seemed to fit that 144th pick range and also seemed to have a nice skill set as a larger target seeing most of our WRs are on the shorter side.

Thanks for your input on the LBs, have not seen or heard much about them but they seem solid as 4th rd prospects go.

Sure thing.

I was looking at the same lbs in the same rounds as you.

I found myself partial though to William Gay. Gay is a three down lb who can do it all. He missed a bunch of games last year and he may have a red flag on him. But if he passes muster he would be ideal

Tanner Muse is a another guy that intrigues and I see mocks selecting him all over the place. The guy is Simmons lite.

Swiss army knife lb/s that the DC can bring in to cover TEs on passing downs. Jints really need a pass covering lb desperately and it might be worth a fourth rounder to take Muse.

If you can exercise enough patience to wait a round or two Kendrick Rogers wr 6'4" 208 lbs from Texas A&M might reward you

Good job
The key to the QB trades is Jaguars and Raiders and others

And the belief the Giants are willing to trade down with them.

Which is why....Raiders rumor offering the Giants 2 1st...and the Jaguars also having 2 ones....is VERY Good.

If Miami and the Chargers want to same player....it will be a mute issue...as one will work out a deal with the Redskins or Detroit.....

We need Miami wanting Tua and Chargers wanting Herbert.....

CM, yep, Gay can be slotted in and replace Logan Wilson, looks like all 3 have the ability to upgrade our LB Corps, will be interesting to see if any of the 3 are targeted.

George, not sure I agree. If we trade down too far then we lose out on a blue chipper, rather we did not do that. And if both Chargers and dolphins want DIFFERENT QBs then why would either want to trade up....just sit tight and let their prospect come to them. It's only when two teams covet the same QB is when want will want to trade up and gain leap frog over the other interested teams. I just have a feeling DG is going to find a trade down difficult in the 1st round and why I proposed a trade down in round 2.
I would take more olinemen instead of the TE and RB. I think you
Jack Stroud : 4/5/2020 7:10 pm : link
could get a RB and TE as an UDFA.
I'll say it again: BPA and if that is WHOEVER well so be it
SGMen : 4/5/2020 11:05 pm : link
You don't take an OT at #4 if Okudah or Simmons are still available. I just don't see that happening but I can see a potential trade down IF there is a QB there someone wants.

George, do you have a link for the Raiders rumor offering the Giants both their firsts?
