Giants closely monitoring James Morgan QB from FIU?

Sean : 4/5/2020 8:23 pm
The Giants don’t have a developmental QB on the roster behind Jones. It seems Morgan is getting a lot of attention around the league.

Thought this was interesting.

If so, he won’t be taken by the NYG.
He's got the Hoss 'stache!

WHY do we need a developmental QB? How many of these have we had over the last 10 years of Eli, and now in the new QB era? We have a perfectly serviceable backup, and there's NO need to take a kid who (if all goes remotely according to plan) will not play.

I don't get it. This team has needs.

You always take a pass on late round developmental QBs, like we did with Tom Brady :)
I m me of those guys who believes

You should always have a young developmental qb on the roster.

They have not had much success up to now, but keep trying. It s amazing how the Patriots always manage to find these guys

Absolutely agree with this. I had no issues with drafting Webb or Lauletta.
Have no problem spending a 6 or 7 on a developmental QB

That is what the Packers would do under Ron Wolf, Patriots under Belichick , etc.

My problem is I think Morgan will go well before then and the Giants have too many needs to be looking at a developmental QB that early in the draft.
I am all for a Developmental QB

Just not before round 5. The 1st 4 rounds need to be dedicated to building the current roster. At least someone who will contribute this season or next. After that you can look to take the gamble players. We have a lot of holes and patching the major holes has to be 1st.

Even if you have a 1st round grade on a guy and hes there in the 2nd, QB has to be a low priority. Trade out if necessary and let someone else take him. The value of a backup QB is 3-4 years down the line. We have 2 capable guys.

It's good to have one because you never know ...

... but not to dig up a dead old horse and beat it, but I'm betting Josh Rosen could be had for cheaper than James Morgan at this point.
