WFAN replaying the Giants Bucs 2007 playoff game now

TommytheElephant : 4/5/2020 8:30 pm
Every Sunday 7pm in April and May playing both 42 and 46 runs

Sad to hear Dave Jennings and Dick Lynch as if they are still here .
That was the worst

game we played that postseason. We came out of the gate really slow & only took a lead, which we'd never surrendered, in the second quarter.

Also Eli's first playoff win & TC's first as HC of the Giants.
It was nice to get some revenge on Jeff Garcia

Because, ya know, none of us will ever get over that SF meltdown no matter how many great memories came after.
Going into that game

I thought for sure we were going to lose, given the history with Garcia as Dave notes etc.

I wasn't until after the Dallas game that I was staring to think "what if".

What a magical run.

I thought the Cowboys game while great was the worst game we played by far. It was a miracle we were tied after the half, should have been down at least 2 TDs.

It's interesting, I was a young sports fan at the time and that 02 Giants team was the first team I saw in the playoffs. As stunned as I was by the loss I think my reaction was much different than if it came a few years later. I was just grateful that not only they made it to the playoffs they held a 38-14 lead at one point.

I mean ... I guess .... but the game was over in the third quarter (none of the other games were) and it’s like trying to find fault with a Picasso. It was an epic run - there was no worst. Considering the competition, even Tampa wasn’t that bad — It’s just about as flawless a 4 games as you’ll ever see
We were at that game!

BBI I mean! It was like the Meadowlands South. Seemed like we outnumbered the Bucs fans.

Dean (DC Pollard) organized one hell of a tailgate party! We met at the Walmart down the street and caravand in! before it was over we had over a hundred of us. CTC in Ft Meyers fried up a turkey!
Was at the game with my brother, nephew

and both my sons. I really love games there. It was almost like a home game.
My favorite part of that game?

Gleefully watching NFL Network the next morning while I took down the Christmas tree, which usually puts me into a ridiculous funk. The first Coughlin/Eli playoff win!
Every single one of those post-season wins felt like an extraordinary gift.
Looking back on one of the best times of life

during one of the worst times of life really sucks.

I can't wait to see NYG football back on the field in front of a fully healthy MetLife Stadium.
I know this thread is about the Tampa playoff game.....but

without RW McQuarters interception in the Dallas game, we don't have that GB game or the Super Bowl...and maybe no Super Bowl run in 2011-2012.

I watch that Dallas game at least twice a year and it just feels like the Cowboys should have put us away if they made some plays and didn't drop some easy passes.

But McQuarters jumping in front of that Cowboys receiver was one of my favorite Giant plays ever!

And he is still known for being a Bear.
Recall a lot of the hype in that game was Ronde Barber

making pre-game comments that Eli could be had or something like that.

And then Eli came out and played a really solid game, which just added onto his growing confidence.
When I saw the thread last night

I fired up YouTube and watched the game.

Garcia was the most awkward, ugly throwing QB. Guy had all sorts of quirks and jumps and somehow managed to complete passes from the strangest positions and angles. Infuriating.

Eli had 20 Ints and 7 fumbles that year according to Aikman. Hmmm.
Had a chance to attend that game

I was living in Orlando at the time and me and a couple friends had tickets offered to us. We decided not to go as we didnt want to go over there just to watch them lose.

I believe this was Dumb Decision in Life #563 if im not mistaken....

I remember thinking "Alright Eli got his first playoff win, something to build on for next year"

Little did all of us know..
The Eli Can be Had Game

I loved the fact Eli deeked Ronde Barber on the TD pass. Eli was an assassin.
The second half of that game...

...was the true beginning of the era.

The 2007 team was a maddeningly inconsistent, injury-plagued mess.

But boy, when they found their identity and played to it, they were unstoppable.

I LOVED how the DL would wear down and eventually dominate opposition lines, how QB's would be running for their lives in 4th quarters, while Eli was virtually unstoppable when playing from behind. No matter how bad the Giants were losing, you couldn't turn off the fuckin' TV, cause Eli could pull one out of a hat at any moment.

Against Tampa, Justin Tuck suddenly became the X-Factor.

Great team, best postseason ever.
