ESPN, NFL Network could team up for draft coverage

ZogZerg : 4/6/2020 9:54 am
This will be interesting...

The operation would reportedly run from ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut as studios owned by the NFL in California and New Jersey are closed right now. Personalities from each network would take part in the coverage. King also reports that there’s expected to be a telethon element to the coverage in order to raise money for causes related to the fight against COVID-19.

I've been wondering if this might

pre-empt those damn drama-destroying tweets?

Im really hoping that, with the situation we are in and how it has affected how the draft is going to be conducted, that a lot of that stupid crap that they normally do will be out the window this year and MAYBE just maybe they can just concentrate on the actual selections as they are made. I know im hoping for a lot there, but it sure would be nice.
I think it’s a great idea

and I especially like the telethon part. Someone with a clue thought this out.
Don’t like the telethon aspect of it

But perhaps I am reading too much into the use of that word. Talk about it and put a number on the screen, fine. But talk about the players for the bulk of it, not begging for money.

Let the players have their moment and let the fans escape for a bit. I’ve never looked forward to a draft so much, and I know a lot of fans who feel the same. No March Madness. No baseball. This is the one sports oasis in a massive desert. Let it be about sports

In that case, sure I’d watch.

I found the draft way more enjoyable when I stay off twitter. It got old knowing the pick before the pick. And honestly once the Giants pick, it's kind of all background noise for me anyway.
It'll be hard for them to organize countless

Boy Scout troops, live feeds from service people overseas, winners of the Slim Jim "Snap into the NFL" contests this year to announce the pick.

The draft may be watchable again.

Not a bad idea. Maybe I'll put the radio on in the background.
I’ll be watching

Every last minute. My son and I have traditionally watched it ever since he could hold a remote lol

I agree. Just like the Sunday Giants game, its a family tradition with us. We no longer are able to get together like we could when it was on Saturday, but we each watch and communicate. I can tolerate all the hoopla and irrelevance, its a small price to pay.
Any recommended

YouTube livestreams for this? Maybe Pardon My Take will do something - levity would be welcomed over the self-serious ESPN haircuts.
The current limitations and restrictions

MAY actually make watching this draft BETTER than what it has become now.

It MAY be the least bullshit-filled version since they destroyed the old, MUCH BETTER format of doing the first three rounds on Saturday from 12-6.

Given the circumstances, it might even make sense to do more than round one on day 1 (once everything's all set up to go, why risk more exposure to those working the draft that can't do it from the safety of their homes.

But they probably won't.
Pat Kirwan, who was initially against it,

now supports having one round per day or 7 days total

It’s the only game in town, why not extend it that way?
Because

all of the technicians behind the scenes shouldn't have to risk their health for 7 straight days.
