How do you see the draft going from a broadcast standpoint?

Sean : 4/6/2020 8:09 pm
I read today that ESPN/NFLN were in talks to have a joint broadcast. It is fully virtual, there will be no war rooms to show, everyone will be home.

How do you anticipate it going as a viewer? Smooth? Sloppy? Will it be better now that there are no bells & whistles? Does it impact trades?

I’m very intrigued to see how it goes.
Going to be weird for certain,

which is the norm with everything nowadays.

If I had a guess, more sloppy than smooth. I gotta imagine there'll be glitches along the way.
I think it will be better than the previous few years

There will be no circus and ridiculous segments since there won’t be an audience. I have hope that it will be geared more towards diehard fans and include more analysis.
The ratings should be outstanding

Because people are starved for sports. Most of the people who wouldn’t be able to view the draft live because of work will be home.

maybe super bowl levels?
No clue how the networks are going to broadcast it

Are the anchors/hosts going to be in separate rooms/studios? How long is the delay from submitting the pick to getting it announced? How is the pick announced? Will trades be more difficult to consummate?
ESPN will have access to their braodcast center

Probably tons of video clips of the players.

Zoom interviews with GMs & Coaches, maybe split screens and Players are given laptops.

Commish will probably zoom in picks
Could end up better

Less flash, more substance about the players.
can't be worse than the recent product
Torrag : 4/6/2020 11:22 pm : link
No substance about the players recently. Too many people involved and everyone has to get their facetime. All I need/want is who was picked, show some relevant video and give us as much info as possible on the player. If trades go down give us the specifics talk about it briefly and move on.
Don't see
TommyWiseau : 4/6/2020 11:56 pm : link
why there can't be a war room as long as it's only 5 - 10 people and they aren't ontop of eachother.

Maybe they will do it Brady Bunch style.

Because it is prohibited in areas where some teams operate. Not essential buisnesses. And you can't have different standards for competitive advantage reasons.

So if some teams are prohibited from in person operations, all must be.

ESPN broadcasts of the 90s. Less pomp and circumstance, more emphasis on football. This will just be by remote but more along those lines I think.

Correct - the Saints had set up in a brewery owned by the team's owner, with plenty of room between them, and the league nixed it.

Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football first confirmed that these new orders from the NFL mean the Saints will be unable to hold their draft from the Dixie Brewery as planned. So Loomis, Payton, Ireland, and their crew will have to work remotely just like every other NFL club, somewhat leveling the playing field.

lonk - ( New Window )
I’m wondering how this will affect trades...
Daniel in Kentucky : 4/7/2020 5:12 pm : link
Will there be premature deadline of maybe 1 minute shy from next pick to submit a trade?
Can't wait for Daniel Jeremiah to put McShay and Kiper in place
