Hank Aaron hits HR number 715. I remember it well- I was ten years old and it was on Monday Nigh Baseball. Al Downing was the pitcher.

Who caught the ball in the Atlanta bullpen?
I think the whole country was watching

I was almost 12 and I recorded his at bats with my little cassette tape recorder, holding the microphone to the speaker on our tv.

Wow, time flies.
I remember it vividly as well.

I can still see LA LF Bill Buckner trying to climb the LF wall to get to the ball. Former Yankee Al Downing threw the pitch.

funny, one of the things that I remember most vividly is the billboard that was behind the bullpen..."Think Of It As Money"..I think it was a credit card advertisement or something. Fun memories, remember how they had built up Hank's chase for 715 the whole offseason after the 73 World Series concluded.
amazing thing to me about this was

Aaron sat on 713 all off-season. Immense hype and hoopla. Plenty of hate mail and even death threats. Then he comes out on opening day in Cincy and hits 714. No time wasted. Then in game 4 in Atlanta with the whole country watching on Monday Night Baseball on cue Aaron goes out and calmly hits the HR his second time up. Pressure, what pressure? And the guy was 41.
