Fanspeak Double Mock - Feedback/Discussion

Allen in CNJ : 4/8/2020 9:52 am
Hi everyone. I just did 2 fanspeak mocks, both on the difficult level with the "latest" draft boards available (I believe it was draftplex). Basically went into both with the same approach, and that is solving our defensive woes and fixing our O-Line. The only player I drafted twice was Lloyd Cushenberry. I've made it very clear here and other places that if available, Isaiah Simmons is THE pick @ #4. It turns out, in one of my two mocks, he was already gone (Detroit took him @#3 in Mock #2). So in that one, I went with Wills because I believe he's the best tackle in the draft. More comments below...

Mock #1-
R1P4 LB ISAIAH SIMMONS
R2P4 CB TREVON DIGGS
R3P35 C LLOYD CUSHENBERRY III
R4P4 S ASHTYN DAVIS
R5P4 OT HAKEEM ADENIJI
R6P4 EDGE RON'DELL CARTER
R7P4 CB LAVERT HILL
R7P24 TE DALTON KEENE
R7P33 WR CHRIS FINKE
R7P41 LB TANNER MUSE
*I personally think this is a dream scenario here - but the OT problem isn't truly fixed. Simmons, Diggs, and Cushenberry are plug in and play starters. Ashtyn Davis is also a guy that can play right away. Carter and Adeniji are projects, but could contribute. The 7th rounders here have some potential and can also contribute. Lavert Hill is the one that really dropped and I think he's a steal in the 7th.

Mock #2-
R1P4 JEDRICK WILLS JR.
R2P4 S GRANT DELPIT
R3P35 EDGE CURTIS WEAVER
R4P4 C LLOYD CUSHENBERRY III
R5P4 LB MARKUS BAILEY
R6P4 WR QUINTEZ CEPHUS
R7P4 CB GRAYLAND ARNOLD
R7P24 WR MALCOLM PERRY
R7P33 G MICHAEL ONWENU
R7P41 LB MICHAEL DIVINITY JR.
*In some ways, this is a better draft than #1. Wills, Delpit, Weaver, Cushenberry are all day 1 starters IMO. Cephus is maybe a character concern, and IMO Bailey is a solid backup LB and can contribute on specials. I'm a big time Navy fan, and I couldn't pass on Malcolm in the 7th as I can see him being a guy that can find ways to contribute on offense eventually and on specials.

**Let me know what you think BBI. Which draft is "better?" Which players do you like? Which picks do you disagree with?Fire away!

If you want a starting center......it needs to be in 2nd rd

LLOYD CUSHENBERRY III is not making it to our 3rd rd....let our 4th.
Cushenberry at the bottom of the 4th or top of 5th?

These fans speak gibberish.
Done many of these, always have the same quandary:

Pick #4 - BPA is Okudah/Simmons (defense)
#36 - BPA is a safety that dropped (another defender)
#99 - top OTs are gone, on a lucky day you can get a C
#110 - have to reach for an OT

Hard to rehabilitate the O-line this draft without passing on better players at other positions.
If the giants don’t draft s tackle in Day 1 or 2, Fleming gets a

Contract extension with lots of playing incentives. Just my prediction.

Even if Gates beats out Fleming this year, the Giants need to identify 2 potential starting tackles for 2021 without relying on the 2021 draft. Fleming will either be a starter or swing tackle in 2020 and 2021.

but they lead to unrealistic expectations.

For example, I just ran this from FanSpeak:

Round 1: OT Jedrick Wills
Round 2: LB Kenneth Murray (passed over Delpit and McKinney for him)
Round 3: C Cesar Ruiz (who I see as a guard too)
Round 4: EDGE Darrell Taylor
Round 5: S Tanner Muse (who can also play coverage LB)
Round 6: WR Quez Watkins
Round 7: C Gage Cervenka
Round 7: S J.R. Reed
Round 7: TE Stephen Sullivan
Round 7: EDGE Trevis Gipson

Fixed the OL and added talent on D with versatile players. Didn't help our receiving core too much although Watkins is a speed demon. I'd sign up for this in a heartbeat, but I question how realistic this really is.

I think Muse will eventually convert to LB in the NFL.

I assume that you took Wills over Okudah in Draft 2 but selected a CB in Rnd 2?
