NFT: 'Ozark' on Netflix

One of the best new shows anywhere.

Definitely think it’s worth watching. Don’t think it’ll win any critical awards but it’s an entertaining show. Good performances by Jason Bateman and Laura Linney.

season 3 soon. It is a fantastic show, incredibly acted and a different kind of storyline than a lot of shows. Bateman is incredible in it, along with Julia Garner who plays Ruth. Highly recommend. It gets better with every episode.

It is certainly one of the better shows out there. Anyone who was not aware of it before, should be aware by now that Jason Bateman is supremely talented.

We blew through all three seasons pretty quickly because we couldn't stop watching it. It may be my favorite one of these type of shows. We have watched a number of these type now and a lot of times the 1st season is good but then they get worse. Not with Ozark, it just gets better (and crazier).

Recommended!! Definitely worth the time to watch it. Great show

You will find these two lead actors to completely buy into this story. Wonderfully written.....Bateman also impresses with both his directing talent and his disarming humor injected into many tension filled moments......a complete success.....highly recommend starting with episode 1 season 1 and you will be hooked.

each episode drew you in and you couldn't stop watching. That last episode was just amazing - "It took me a minute to find it" - LOL.

Start from S1E1. Hope you enjoy it.

seem to get into the third season. I still like it more than anything else that has premiered. And that goes for Westworld too, although I'm about to give up on that. I think I just want some good comedy, life is too serious all the time now to watch other peoples make believe problems.

and 7 episodes in I think it’s great, might be the best season but I’ll hold off on that until I finish it.

but he's spot on with this one. I think it's one of the best shows around at the moment.

the story-line and acting with the brother was insanely good

It may be great like some are saying...but it became instantly implausible when the guy took his 7.98k and was not followed by the authorities to ensure he was safe.

I watched the first two seasons but am waiting for GF to catch up before we watch the third. I cant wait. . .

But season three was a letdown for me. Not a fan of the brother character and the whole arc around him. Will be back for season four though as the best thing about three was the finale.

I should be watching.

I couldnt possibly disagree more. I thought he was excellent. Im being vague to remain spoiler-free, but there were several aspects of his character/performance that I thought were masterfully portrayed. Not only was he good but he brought out aspects of multiple characters that we hadn't seen. The actor, Tom Pelphrey, is probably going to win an Emmy and see a big jump in his career.

I have a couple episodes to go but he's actually been a good addition, IMO.

I was worried about the same thing, feels like a plot device. But someone on reddit pointed out that he's not quite a "long lost brother" and that Marty/Wendy had actually discussed him earlier when voicing their concerns about Jonah ("What if he's like my brother?"). Kind of made me think they had planned on bringing him in the whole time.

Now go finish the season and start a thread when you're ready to talk about it lol.

Shameless > Ozark. William Macy is such an underrated actor, he, in Shameless, is one of my favorite characters of any show.

And that's not a criticism of Ozark, I liked it a lot, but Shameless is just a better show. You made the right call, but should catch Ozark when you can.

the show is fun but there's only so many times I can watch how much of a piece of shit Macy is, and how every arc seems to be the same story. Its basically why I stopped watching Ray Donnovan - just couldn't stand Mickey after a while, it became redundant and boring.

Ozark is much better than both shows in just about every facet. Top notch acting and directing and the cinematography is beautiful. And Julia Garner is one of the best young actresses in the business, she's simply fantastic on this show.

but it has gotten too dark for the wife, and with both of us home, there is limited opportunity for me to watch it otherwise. Jason Bateman and especially Laura Linney are fantastic.

I do not go into shows expecting anything. I go in expecting to be entertained, I'm waiting for that very moment to happen. Let me know when, but I'm only on episode three. I'll give it a chance, I guess.

seems like you are coming up with reasons not to like it. Fine if you don't like it but the best show of all time (IMO) is the Wire and that starts "slow" - the beauty is in the depth, acting, etc.

And not liking something because of the color of the tint is pretty funny.

Well I'm a huge Ozark fan so perhaps the question isn't for me. For me I love shows that tend to be on the darker side, with great writing and acting performances. Shows that keep you engaged and connected through all the different plots.

Sons of Anarchy is probably my all time favorite show.

Some good ones that are more under the radar are Justified, Halt and Catch Fire, and Rectify. The latter two are phenomenal television, and only 4 seasons each.

LOL. Of all the things I could give advice about, this is the surest thing I could do. Much safer than who the Giants will pick at #4.

To echo the consensus Ozark is awesome. Shameless was awesome but I gave up two years ago when Debbie became a prominent character the show took a nosedive. Can’t believe it’s still on. I loved Ray Donovan until season 5 and it also fell off a cliff IMO

the plot holes were ridiculous in season 3 and the plot in general is pretty ridiculous, but I'm not someone who gets hung up on that. It's entertainment.

but make no mistake the show is entertaining, but in no way in the category some fans on here are putting it. People are making it seem like the TV version of Citizen Kane.

Tom Pelphrey is from Jersey and a huge Giants fan. I thought he was awesome on this season. I just finished season 3. I thought this season was better than season 2.

But I didn't like the character and felt that he was simply a mechanism to move the plot along. His sudden presence just seemed contrived to me.

I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll just say that there were a few other things that really didn't make a whole lot of sense regarding the storylines involving Darlene.

Again, I love the show and I liked season 3. Just didn't like it as much as the first two. I hope season 4 returns the focus to Marty and the nuts and bolts of how he comes up with creative ways to launder money. That was the part of the show I liked the best.

Huh? I cant critique the cinematography of a show produced by professionals now? I took some college courses in Media Productions, so I've always had a fondness for this sort of thing. Sorry, I'll be nicer next time. I like the Tupac shirt on the annoying girl though. Very, very 2010s double-edged woman character.

What does what shows I do like have to do with this one? So you can just say I'm wrong by picking out flaws in other shows?

I'll probably watch Ozark to fill up time on a day off, as I am doing today. I did the same exact thing with House of Cards, it was a decent show in the beginning, but I could live without it. I'll clean my act up.

So I'll watch it and I'm going to go do my best to fit in with the cool crowd. Back to the show, weird things are happening!

Oh, look. My girlfriend just complained about the filter being too dark and the framing being a bit off. I told her what they're saying on BBI and to quit increasing her demands. She's a nurse, so this very little time off with everything going on, she'll love being told what to say.

you don’t have to like it, doesn’t bother me one bit. But your initial post I couldn't take seriously - “nothing is happening” and they are all “just walking around”. Then you complained it’s too dark. I asked what shows you like then out of curiosity.

But it sounds like you shouldnt bother watching it anymore. It’s still dark in season 3 and they are still walking around (and doing some boating). Not much else.
