His legs look thicker, and there was plenty of zip on the out throws. His career will be fun to watch as he develops. I was thinking, is he the most talented QB Garrett has had to work with? Romo started as an UDFA, Dak a fourth rounder. Jones is bigger than both, faster, and I think more accurate.
I was shocked at the pick but not a hater. I kept hearing pick
wanted Allen. I was wrong DG got it right. Kudos to him
All of his felt that way. No shame in it. I am so glad we were all wrong. I absolutely LOVE our qb. He can make any throw and makes a TON of smart accurate throws. Line gets slightly better, JJ and staff (which I think is very well assembled) will teach him to hold the ball higher = all pro, top 5 in the league. He has it and will be.
Was skeptical on it at first, but I didn't understand why talking heads and fans who never saw him play were blowing a gasket. It was over the top and childish.
about Jones was the work ethic. It's not how good the guy is going to be when he walks in the door, it's how much he's going to continue to improve after he gets handed millions of dollars.
Jones has a tireless work ethic and he cares about being a great NFL QB, and he is going to IMPROVE or die trying.
That - packaged with the physical traits - is what made him such a great prospect.
Josh Allen would have been a great pick. If we had gone with Allen we would be picking a QB on the 23rd which wouldn't be the worse thing in the world.
I was thinking I misheard...my actual thought was, "Jones? Who is Daniel Jones? Is he rated as a higher DE than Allen?" I just thought it HAD to be Allen when he dropped to the spot. QB had gone right out of my head
Initially, I thought we could have waited to take him at 17. But, that seems like it wasn't likely. I liked a lot of what I read about Jones leading up to the draft and there was no other QB besides Murray who I wanted. This will be an interesting QB class to judge, with this year being a big one toward that end.
But then I started doing some research, and listening to what Cutcliffe was saying about him in those longer interviews -- saying he was Peyton with legs, with Eli's demeanor and I started getting excited. And I started to see EXACTLY why the Giants wanted him, for both his on-the-field smarts and athleticism, and his off-field demeanor, which IS pretty much just like Eli. Boring as hell. The more I dug into it, the more sense it made.
If he cleans up the fumbles (which he will), he has a chance to be terrific.
But the Giants still need an OT to protect him. ESPECIALLY if WSH gets Chase Young.
because I'm a UVA guy and watch a fair bit of ACC football. It was abundantly clear that the rest of his offense was awful and he alone was carrying that team. Trying to compare him and Haskins was like apples and oranges - one played with a roster of NFL hopefuls; the other played with a bunch of guys who didn't belong on a college football field. And he put up alot of points with those bums.
It was hard to evaluate D. Jones cause his supporting cast
Same here.
Yup.
I'll admit I was right there with you. It was a good reminder that I don't know crap about scouting these guys.

DJ8 was throwing to a bunch of slow midget neurosurgeon receivers at Duke.
I think its still TBD. The turnovers are insane. I full expect him to turn some of them around, but until they are, his status is TBD in my book.
