That’s an absurd amount of resources.
O'Brien
JonC : 4/24/2020 3:01 pm : link
will run the roster into the ground from that perch.
Man...
Chris in Philly : 4/24/2020 3:01 pm : link
He won't be skimping on weak-ass indica after this! Nothing but the best for my guy!
Tunsil could really use
Coach Red Beaulieu : 4/24/2020 3:08 pm : link
his gasmask nowadays, when he needs to go grocery shopping.
Well, at least we got Eli Apple instead...ugh.

Rudy5757 : 4/24/2020 3:27 pm : link

Freaking out when a player is given the "highest paid contract in the NFL at his position" is silly. Not that I defend the Solder signing - but when he was made the highest paid OT - it was simply because of timing not because anyone thought he was the best.
I will say this
mdthedream : 4/24/2020 4:37 pm : link
drafting a OT in the first instead of a free agent OT makes more sense than say a safety. The price for a free agent OT is way to much money. Same with trying to get a passrusher. Do what that pats do find cheaper alternatives in free agency and trades. Same with Williams the price is to high rather have picks and bring in a cheaper free agent.

Sy, it will fall on deaf ears. A bunch of us have been saying this since he was signed (whether we should have signed him or not is another question)..

What, you want logic to be a factor here? :-)

It’s common sense
Tuckrule : 4/24/2020 5:24 pm : link
Cap goes up contracts go up and therefore the newest guy is always the highest paid until its the next guys turn
This screws everyone
Amtoft : 4/24/2020 5:52 pm : link
because it is a huge jump and is the new standard to beat.
Paying the highest ever AAV is timing; the percent increase is stupid
Kyle_ : 4/24/2020 5:52 pm : link
BOB paid $4 million more per year than the previous high of $18 million per. Over 20% increase on Lane Johnson's deal.

Dude doesn't have an agent and took BOB to the cleaners.
Wait 5 years and Andrew Thomas will be that guy !

It doesn’t matter that it’s a bad deal for Houston
LBH15 : 4/24/2020 7:00 pm : link
it shows how OL talent never actually makes it to free agency.

Which is why you need draft it more frequently and successfully than our moronic franchise has done.

The rationale for Solder's bad contract and bad play is endless here. Forget about the facts for a moment (provided below) -- Tunsel is young and good, Solder when he signed was already aging and average.

Laremy Tunsil:
Age: 26
Pro Seasons Completed: 4
Games Played: 58
Pro Bowls: 1
AAV: 22M
Guaranteed at signing: 40M
AAV as Percentage of Cap years 1-3: ~9% (21,22 #s not released)

Nate Solder:
Age: 30
Pro Season Played: 7
Games Played: 98
Pro Bowls: 0
AAV: 15.5
Guaranteed at Signing: 34.8
AAV as Percentage of Cap years 1-3: 8.3%
