Let's see how those grades look

in three years, fairly meaningless right now.
Why would the Peart pick
section125 : 4/26/2020 10:59 pm : link
be a C minus? Because he won't start this year???
Dunleavy is an idiot....

Not because of the grades but his commentary. Is he really that stupid that he didn’t get the Peart selection and why?
I never understood the

Grade thing. Statistically most players flame out for one reason or the other. Yet you look at the grades and it’s almost always above a C.
Even his assessments of the later round picks

Seems to lack any acknowledgement that some of these guys played for coaches currently on the Giants, so they maybe had greater insight into some of these guys than others.
When I attended

Many drafts years ago I was astounded how little sports reporters knew. A player like Peart who is really a 4th round pick(without the compensatory picks)has the size, arm length, character, to develop into a starter on a team desperate for tackles receives a low grade just shows this reporter is a moron.
Watching Peart for four years
uconngiant : 4/26/2020 11:29 pm : link
He will work his butt off and won't be a problem at all. He is of high character and just needs some strength and placement of his hands.

I think at worse he will be a swing tackle that can come in and play at a pretty high level. At best he could be the Right Tackle for ten years.
Is he that impatient that he needs our borderline 3rd rounder
BestFeature : 4/26/2020 11:40 pm : link
to start right away? What a stupid grade. Most people in the know praised this pick. I wasn't thrilled in the beginning with a developmental pick, but we needed another tackle, we could wait a year because we still have Solder, and we got an extremely talented and smart kid. That was a great pick.

Death, taxes, and someone saying not to judge a draft until 3 years after it - the only certainties in life.
The analysis is amateurish

Especially for someone like Crowder. Complaining about not landing RB, WR, or TE? We used UDFA for that. Not to mention at TE if Engram is healthy you have Engram, Kaden Smith, and Levine Toilolo. They also brought back C.J. Conrad who had shown flashes in camp last year. Mr. Irrelevant was suddenly going to change that? Crowder was going to have really strong interest as a UDFA so if he was someone the staff was excited about then they did the right thing by drafting him.

Because he thinks there were better players available at that pick I would think.
Reasonable grades

.
Grading drafts is so stupid
KDavies : 4/27/2020 7:07 am : link
And such a waste of time

A C- for Mr. Irrelevant when he had priority UDFA offer(s) that showed he was highly valued?
pretty silly

I would like people who are critical of the Peart pick to explain a better way to acquire a potential quality starting RT for 2021 and beyond (not stopgap).

It seems obvious DG, JJ, JG, et al. thought that due to supply and demand, quality, value, etc., Peart was BPA vs. a mediocre Center or Edge. What's so f*ing hard to understand?

yes
Grades are stupid...

I get giving an overall draft a grade - it's a logical thing for publications to do after a draft even if meaningless. But grading each pick? Dumb dumb dumb.
There are people in every NFL organization whose sole job it....
Crispino : 4/27/2020 10:35 am : link
it is is to go to games, watch film, interview players and come up with an assessment of players after all that. And they routinely get it wrong on most of the players. That’s why NFL rosters turn over year after year and the average NFL career is something like 2.5 years. So now I’m supposed to listen to sports writers who have a tiny fraction of the information on these guys comparatively? Bottom line, it’s a gamble. Every organization gets some right and some wrong. And the beat writers certainly don’t know better than the guys who actually do the exhaustive analyses.
