It was the only playoff game I ever got to go to in person. Great tailgait, was so jazzed and pumped to get in the stadium and then Dixon takes it to the house right away. The place was bedlam. Looking back at old clips Pat Summeral had a great call too.
In his first game as a Giant (96 i think) he took a punt all the way. Later that day i was having pizza in California ( dont ask it was horrible) I met 2 little league refs who, while still in my giants shirt, asked me if I knew him. they had been reefing his games since he was a little boy. I told them of his touch down and they jumped up and down as I had earlier. Great moment.
1) Gary Reasons fake punt 90 NFC Title Game
2) Matt Bahr's GW FG 90 NFC Title Game
3) Strip in 11' NFC Title Game
4) Both of Tynes' FG's
5) Fake punt in SB 21
amazing plays everyone has listed, but some of my favorite Special Teams moments came when David Meggitt was returning punts for the Giants or when Reyna Thompson was the gunner on punts. Those two guys were so much fun to watch play.
Meggitt was such an amazing returner, who always got positive yards and returned several punts for TDs.
Thompson also was terrific, downing Landeta's punts within the 5 yard line or making tackles for loss of the opposing returner.

Both of these gentlemen were a joy to watch play.
Agree 100%. However, Meggett is no gentleman. Miserable rapist SOB.

I had heard that Meggitt had gotten into major trouble, but I didn't know that it was Rape. That sucks. Pathetic on his part.
Serial rapist. Not a misunderstanding that went wrong, she said no, but he took it to mean yes. Nope, he hunted his victims down, and drugged and raped them. Fudged up to say the least. To find out what a POS he is, really sucked after having loved so much of what he did for the Giants.

Thanks Eric for sharing those videos of Reyna Thompson and Larry Flowers. It was fun to watch those plays again.
Gary Reasons fake Punt, even though the man couldnt dodge a simple lame low tackle for a TD lol
And Ron Dixon opening playoff KR, because my father and I were there, together. He passed 8 weeks ago, no clue how I can watch our Gmen without him, we did it together 39 years, dating back when I was 4, my first game memory to this day).
But I will, because I have children to continue to share that bond. Lets Go BIG BLUE!

That is horrifying to learn. Well I hope he rots in jail for the rest of his life. POS
If you want to go with something from our team then it's probably the Reasons fake punt vs San Fran or the Dixon TD kickoff return to start playoff game.
Easy choice. That moment, for me, rivals any Super Bowl memory. Beating the Niners in that game on their field when they were on a two and a half year hot streak? Priceless.
The Niners were 6-5 after 11 weeks in 1988. Starting the next week that season, and continuing on for 44 games until that 1990 NFC title game, they were 39-5! That's what the Giants had to overcome to win that game. I don't think younger fans realize just how monumental winning that game was.
and yeah, it's hard to enjoy watching highlights with Meggett now
He's a horrible human being. Had a lot of people fooled for a long time, because I remember him being considered one of the real good guys on the team at the time.
after being cut by the Packers that year, the Giants picked up Flynn. I think it was his very first game as a Giant we played the Packers. Flynn blocks the kick and scores.

I always thought Flowers got short-changed in discussions about Thompson. He predated him, but he was an amazing special teams player.
I don't really remember Flowers much - I mean, I remember him on the team but was too young to appreciate the ST player he was. It's probably just a function of Thompson playing on more prominent teams. Did the Pro Bowl have coverage specialists when Flowers played?
2nd Runner Up: Sehorn onside KR for TD
3rd Runner Up: Dixon KR TD in SB (would be #1 if it was more meaningful...)
Tyree as a gunner. We had some great punt teams for a stretch.
Norwood missing wide right
Game winning FG 1990 NFC Title Game
Ron "Alarm Clock" Dixon opening up with a KO return for TD against the Eagles, Divisional Round 2000.
2) Matt Bahr's GW FG 90 NFC Title Game
3) Strip in 11' NFC Title Game
4) Both of Tynes' FG's
5) Fake punt in SB 21
Runner up - Daluiso against the cards in 93'
Both fumble recoveries off Kyle Williams in 2011 NFC title game.
All 3 NFC title game FG clinchers.
Now for the worst.
Calloway non recovery of onside kick in 97 playoffs against Vikings.
Desean Jackson walk off punt return 2010.
No hands team against Eagles in the same game.
Brian Westbrook punt return for TD in 2003.
Danelo FG to beat Dallas in 1981 to make the playoffs
2nd Runner Up: Sehorn onside KR for TD
3rd Runner Up: Dixon KR TD in SB (would be #1 if it was more meaningful...)
was at the JPP game with Captain Bill
Feel bad for Kyle Williams....
Bummer
Also the block and TD return by Jenkins before halftime.

Norwood missing wide right
I'm not sure how Wide Right isn't the unanimous choice here for the entire thread.
Everything else is a debate for 2nd place, IMO.
- Dixon starting the playoff game with a kick return.
- Reasons running the fake punt and pointing at the would be tackler.
- Leon Bright getting lit up for what seems every couple of weeks.
- Wally Henry fumbling twice against us in the first Giant playoff game that I was old enough to watch (or maybe in my life as I was 10).
Most memorable acronym - Parcell's acronmym for special teams play - ARAPAHOE - a run, a pass, a hit on the enemy.
Worst memory - Eagle meltdown in 2010. Duke Calhoun having no awareness that the Eagles may try an onside kick.

The Tom Flynn Tribute - ( New Window )
It ALMOST worked.
There's that point in time on a long FG where you sorta see it about to be good.....what a feeling that was!
And of course Buffalo's miss.......I always remember the shot of Reyna Thompson pulling back as to not rough the kicker.
Seemed everyone knew it was coming...except the 11 49ers on the field...........
