has been hammered by this virus! Although Murphy is easing up on things, I’m not so sure about this. You can’t even sit on a beach yet in NJ. You can walk, jog, stroll, but you can’t congregate.

Giants won't re-open their facility on Tuesday. "We are subject to state regulations. Bottom line, when we are cleared on all fronts to go back, we will, in an orderly, systematic, safe way to protect those in our building," a team spokesman said.

If northern NJ is tied to NYC, maybe on 6/13?
Phase 1 could possibly be June 13th. I doubt that means a football team gathering.

Well, this opening isn't team gatherings either. It's employees, capped at 50% or 75 people, no coaches, and no players other than those getting medical treatment or rehabbing.
Local restrictions may become a problem for the Giants eventually, but this is such a limited opening, I don't think it has a material impact on the team that we can't do it.

Is that so?
this is a few years d but looks like there are still Ota dates coming up soon.
OTA Offseason Workouts: May 20-22, May 29-31, June 3-6

This announcement does not include those proceeding as originally scheduled. Presumably the May 20 OTA's remain postponed, since it's so close I assume they'd announce now if they were back on. By that last weekend in May maybe the league will move to proceed with OTA's, which could be a problem for the Giants. But for now, this is a minor re-opening that doesn't really impact the team, imo.
but there’s NO shot in this area. We are spiking upward again with admissions and deaths. The only way the Giants and Jets can keep up is move out of state. As soon as they have group activities, watch the sickness rate blossom throughout the ranks. I’m not optimistic. We are seeing re infections (no immunity) and the second time is worse. Teams will be put at extreme risk for the sake of money.
I'm not sure what you're referring to, an in-person OTA? Obviously teams holding zoom meetings or other virtual activities is irrelevant to the topic of this thread and doesn't disadvantage the Giants if NJ has tighter restrictions for in-person gatherings than other states.

Unless I’m wrong, Those zoom meetings count as our OTA’s.

No they arent, new jersey's hospitmizations have gone down by 1000 people each week since hitting the peak, there has been no spike upward again..
I dont know what is going to happen and i dont think Murphy allows the Giants or Jets to dk anything any time soon but there has been no respike
And set a uniform policy league wide. You can't have some percentage of the league doing one thing and another doing another
I have no faith in leadership to get this, or most things right.
Maybe they can, but it doesn’t look like they are going to
You are asking the entire league to adhere to the most strict guidelines.
That starts with OTAs but ends with capacity in the stands and ability to generate game day revenue. All the owners in open states aren’t going to agree to abiding by the strictest rules.

was packed pretty good yesterday (for a Fri before mem day). Families sitting plenty far apart from each other, which is what normal people do on the beach.
I don't see why outdoor (or indoor, if space is large enough, like giants practice facility) activities should be limited to what the gov thinks is best. Golf OK, but me playing with remote control car with family in a park yesterday, I was told by cops was "not allowed".
This isn't something open to the public. Is it inherently more dangerous to drive to the Giants facility in NJ, vs players going to a facility in another state.
Seems illogical.
0.03 percent death rate vs the flu 1.2 open the hell up...
are another problem. Gone are the days when teams were their own boss and could operate independently, although Maras were a cooperative, too cooperative with league, n general.
Nevertheless because. of different state rules and ? risk, the league must allow different teams in different locations to make different arrangements,
It’s pretty obvious that league and player association mandates don’t fit current times. It will be an interesting to watch league and Giants as to how committed they are to individual team building, risk assessment, and what they always claim loudly, competitiveness. Otherwise it would be “shockingly” fake.
A poster made a bigoted comment about Italians. NJ is extraordinarily wealthy and highly educated. NJ is the second wealthiest state in the country. Bloomberg News wrote that NJ has more wealthy towns than Texas, Florida, Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania combined. U.S. News said that NJ is the second most educated state.
Phil Murphy is a socialist and is grossly incompetent. He is shutting the state down for political reasons.
No way NJ allows them to open any time soon unless they grant a specific exemption
I wonder if Mr Mara is thinking about contingencies to move the team facilities out of state for a while?

They’re not gonna let competitive balance get in the way of holding the season.
Sucks for us but it is what it is.

How bad is Albany getting hit? My buddy who has a house up in the Adirondacks says they are opening today.
Only rehabbing players and support staff.
So that’s good, I’m still not optimistic that the league will be able to keep an even playing field over the long run.
Seems illogical.
