He's basically been a bust of a first round pick. He did pretty well returning some kicks and if that's all you want out of the guy, then he's promising.
Maybe he lives up to his potential as a WR, but to be able to predict based on past experience I'd say .... (flips coin)
I was hoping for a breakout last year, prior to his injury.
He was a great athlete prior to ACL and hopefully that didn’t zap any of it. He did have the dropsies which was his biggest downfall IIRC. He would be nothing more then the #4 WR now and will get limited opportunities, but if he’s still explosive, could be another stretch the field guy, like Slayton.

He doesn't have to be #1, but in the "situational" philosophy of JJ, picking a time to send BOTH Slayton and Coleman down the field at once should present some opportunities.

...and roughly 1500-1800 yards receiving with 12 or more TDs depending on how many kickoffs he returns for scores.
I am getting pretty sick of your pessimism. An average of 18 YPC is ridiculously low for an elusive player that reportedly ran a 4.14 40 uphill and into the wind.
And begin the season as the 4th WR but he will be used as a deep threat and finish with 300-400 receiving yards.
It’s unfortunate that he missed the entire season. The coaches were praising him during offseason activities. With all the injuries at WR last season Coleman would have received significant playing time on offense. Obviously that would have been a huge opportunity to prove himself.
He's bounced around the league for years without establishing
Do we know they cut a big WR for a backup QB, they not even draft a WR so I assume they like DG have another secret plan. Coleman got talent but at some point you got to show the talent his clock is ticking real fast on the final stages of an NFL dream. Other than Slayton we don’t have much at WR and he is being asked to become the #1 guy because all the rest don’t scare anyone.
He bounced around the league? Why do people just make stuff up?
He was a 1st RD draft pick of the Cleveland Browns, had that poor training camp on hard knocks, was cut....and Giants with a top waiver placed a claim....he excelled at kick offs after being claimed ....but tore his ACL last year in camp....after high expectations.
If healthy, he has great tools. If he can put it altogether....he has the pedigree to be a #1 WR.....but that is a big if...at this point.
Frankly, I thought they should have said good-bye to Coleman like they did with Latimer. I'm tired of keeping underachievers around, hoping that somehow they'll miraculously blossom into productive players.
But with the injury I think he is outside looking in. If a rookie shows potential and they are fighting for a spot I think we will keep the rookie. He has a tough uphill battle and I dont think he makes it.

You're forgetting his brief stops in Buffalo and New England prior to joining the Giants. 4 teams in your first 2 years qualifies as bouncing. It looked like the light was starting to come on in 2018 and at the very least the Giants looked to nab a good return man, which considering the investment was a win. Who knows what he'll look like after the ACL. But hope don't cost nothin'.
He has one thing you can't teach: speed! I can see him making the team because he is a veteran and has the deep speed that only Slayton has at WR right now.
If he can be 100% for day 1 of camp; learns the playbook; and, finally "puts it together" he could surprise and be our 3rd receiver in some sets and no worse than 4th overall.

It appears he has matured. He added a positive impact as a returner. However, that's a position that changes frequently on rosters.
It's hard to stick to a roster on that alone. While he also showed a bit of promise as a WR he is coming off a severe injury.
You are saying he could be our Ted Ginn?

Coleman is in the mix until he’s not. Maybe the new coaches can get it going with him.
