Corey Coleman

giantsfanforlife : 5/18/2020 5:06 pm
Corey Coleman played well in Special Teams and made some catches when given the opportunity.

What is your expectation of him? Can he be productive on the Giants offense? He has potential since he was a first round pick in 2016.
he is one of my favorites....
BCD : 5/18/2020 5:18 pm : link
hopefully he shine this year. Great talent.
Nothing too much
OdellBeckhamJr : 5/18/2020 5:18 pm : link
He was really solid returning kicks, maybe he'll blossom as a WR, but not hopeful.

Odell Beckham Jr. Numbers.
Who knows?
Gman11 : 5/18/2020 5:28 pm : link
He's basically been a bust of a first round pick. He did pretty well returning some kicks and if that's all you want out of the guy, then he's promising.

Maybe he lives up to his potential as a WR, but to be able to predict based on past experience I'd say .... (flips coin)
I was hoping for a breakout last year, prior to his injury.
George from PA : 5/18/2020 5:31 pm : link
He seems to not be great at picking up the playbook.....hopefully that changes.
At this point in his career, as a receiver, he's a long shot. But
Ira : 5/18/2020 5:31 pm : link
he's worth a chance in camp.
Another guy that needed to mature.....
Simms11 : 5/18/2020 5:47 pm : link
He was a great athlete prior to ACL and hopefully that didn’t zap any of it. He did have the dropsies which was his biggest downfall IIRC. He would be nothing more then the #4 WR now and will get limited opportunities, but if he’s still explosive, could be another stretch the field guy, like Slayton.

He doesn't have to be #1, but in the "situational" philosophy of JJ, picking a time to send BOTH Slayton and Coleman down the field at once should present some opportunities.
I think he has an uphill battle to make the team
DavidinBMNY : 5/18/2020 7:37 pm : link
He clearly has talent, but hasn't put it all together yet. By now he is on at least his third team, usually not a great sign.

It appears he has matured. He added a positive impact as a returner. However, that's a position that changes frequently on rosters.

It's hard to stick to a roster on that alone. While he also showed a bit of promise as a WR he is coming off a severe injury.

You are saying he could be our Ted Ginn?
I think we can safely expect 80-100 receptions...
Milton : 5/18/2020 9:15 pm : link
...and roughly 1500-1800 yards receiving with 12 or more TDs depending on how many kickoffs he returns for scores.
I've alway been a fan of his
rasbutant : 5/18/2020 9:16 pm : link
since I was really bullish on him in the draft. I keep routing for him to prove me right. Still waiting.
I'd certainly keep him
David B. : 5/18/2020 10:50 pm : link
over Mack or Victor.
If he's 100%
David B. : 5/18/2020 10:50 pm : link
that is.

I am getting pretty sick of your pessimism. An average of 18 YPC is ridiculously low for an elusive player that reportedly ran a 4.14 40 uphill and into the wind.
I think that he will be the primary kick returner
Jay on the Island : 5/19/2020 12:43 am : link
And begin the season as the 4th WR but he will be used as a deep threat and finish with 300-400 receiving yards.

It’s unfortunate that he missed the entire season. The coaches were praising him during offseason activities. With all the injuries at WR last season Coleman would have received significant playing time on offense. Obviously that would have been a huge opportunity to prove himself.
He's bounced around the league for years without establishing
Greg from LI : 5/19/2020 2:22 am : link
himself. If he were going to be any good, he would have already done it.
WTH
Dragon : 5/19/2020 4:03 am : link
Do we know they cut a big WR for a backup QB, they not even draft a WR so I assume they like DG have another secret plan. Coleman got talent but at some point you got to show the talent his clock is ticking real fast on the final stages of an NFL dream. Other than Slayton we don’t have much at WR and he is being asked to become the #1 guy because all the rest don’t scare anyone.
He bounced around the league? Why do people just make stuff up?
George from PA : 5/19/2020 4:49 am : link
He was a 1st RD draft pick of the Cleveland Browns, had that poor training camp on hard knocks, was cut....and Giants with a top waiver placed a claim....he excelled at kick offs after being claimed ....but tore his ACL last year in camp....after high expectations.

If healthy, he has great tools. If he can put it altogether....he has the pedigree to be a #1 WR.....but that is a big if...at this point.
The Giants drafted his clone...Derrick Dillon.
Klaatu : 5/19/2020 7:29 am : link
Frankly, I thought they should have said good-bye to Coleman like they did with Latimer. I'm tired of keeping underachievers around, hoping that somehow they'll miraculously blossom into productive players.
I was hoping he would be something for us
Rudy5757 : 5/19/2020 9:35 am : link
But with the injury I think he is outside looking in. If a rookie shows potential and they are fighting for a spot I think we will keep the rookie. He has a tough uphill battle and I dont think he makes it.

You're forgetting his brief stops in Buffalo and New England prior to joining the Giants. 4 teams in your first 2 years qualifies as bouncing. It looked like the light was starting to come on in 2018 and at the very least the Giants looked to nab a good return man, which considering the investment was a win. Who knows what he'll look like after the ACL. But hope don't cost nothin'.

Three organizations in a year took a look at him and said "Naaaaaah".
Whatcha talking about Willis?

Last preseason the Giants were going thru WRs
LBH15 : 5/19/2020 11:50 am : link
like shit thru a goose. And it’s not as if this unit got much attention this offseason via new additions.

Coleman is in the mix until he’s not. Maybe the new coaches can get it going with him.
I had really high hopes for him last year then BAM his ACL blows out
SGMen : 5/19/2020 7:53 pm : link
He has one thing you can't teach: speed! I can see him making the team because he is a veteran and has the deep speed that only Slayton has at WR right now.

If he can be 100% for day 1 of camp; learns the playbook; and, finally "puts it together" he could surprise and be our 3rd receiver in some sets and no worse than 4th overall.
