Link to PFT interview with King and Simms on Jason Garrett

A few days ago, a thread was started posting a link to the PFT article on this interview. But for those who didn't click through and watch the video, this was a very good discussion on Jason Garrett and his potential impact on the NYG offense.

Video comments...

Positive: Lots of talk about the Giants. Overwhelming sense of optimism in Garrett as OC. Positive evaluation of Daniel Jones. Prefer Barkley to Elliott. Should make Giants fans feel good.

Negative: For a video chat with supposed football gurus on the topic of insights into NYG football scheme given Judge's declaration that it will look a lot like Garrett's in DAL, there was absolutely no X's and O's, no description/interpretation of what that means. Interesting that a very large chunk of time was dedicated to trying to figure out why Garrett's DAL offense was under-rated while admitting that they BOTH underrated the offense.

My take-away is that this is the kind of talk-show crap that I hate. I could care less that King and Simms didn't realize how good the DAL offense was last year. I'd like to watch someone explain the staples of a JG offense. It would be nice to have someone explain what elements of the DAL offense we might expect to see, and conjecture on how it might fit given the NYG personnel. Didn't happen.

Having said that - thanks for sharing. Football starved fans shouldn't be choosy about the media we get.

the NFL Network used to have a show called Playbook or something like that. It had Sterling Sharpe as one of the hosts. It was great. It was basically like NFL Matchup. I guess those shows don't get a lot of viewers because they are always replaced with stupid ass shows that are all about predictions or some shit. I don't care what others predict. Show me substance. Now we have the NFL Network with Cynthia Fruelin or whatever her name is with her percentages on simulations. I don't care but always get updates on my phone about her percentages with the Giants. I am a math guy and it doesn't mean anything to me.
Agreed

X and O's

Try to teach me something! I want to learn.

Didn't Brian Billock, have a show that was rather worth while to watch? Playbook, yes, that was it. You are correct. Billock, Sharpe and Baldy
Inconceivable

there is no major network show dedicated to the Xs and Os of the game. Inconceivable!

Is a clown. You cry about Judge saying they'll use a Cowboys offense concept? Well what do you think other teams will expect? Use some brain cells.

Decent analysis by King and Simms.
I think a good portion

Of fans are not interested in the how & why a football game unfolds. A lot of their interest is to watch the game while pretending to know what is happening, then afterwards show their self brilliance to anyone who will lend an ear. It's too much work to spend time to actually understand the intricacies of the game for that certain crowd. I spent some time in that crowd until something clicked after numerous instances of being shown that there was much more to understand. At some point I stopped trying to learn because I felt I had enough knowledge to really understand the game, and or I wasn't willing to put in the work to spend time learning from the resources available to me.

The X's & O's types of shows aren't as popular in my opinion because it often takes more than one viewing of a topic to really learn something, as just storing information in memory doesn't mean there is actual understanding of what you have chosen to memorize. Not to mention it's best to me to read or hear what multiple trusted sources has to say about that same topic.

In a nutshell it's too much work for some to understand the game so they rely on memorizing what "experts" say without any true understanding. Looking smart is of great value to people.
LMao its a secret that we are using Garretts system?

+1

He makes the stupid statement that why would the Giants want the guy who coached the Cowboys shitty offense and then when it's pointed out that they had the #1 offense in the NFL he tries to pawn off what he said as the general perception. No, Florio, it's not the general perception, it was solely your uninformed perception!

Florio is actually great when it comes to legal issues, but a worthless provocateur when it comes to discussing football.
I'm thinking the networks...

Who are paying billions for the rights to sure love games would be surprised at the appetite of fans for this stuff. My own looked free time had shifted, from the networks 30 years ago showing literally any football related content, to online forums 20 years ago for highly curated Giants news, to today, where almost all my free time goes to an even more select list of Twitter feeds and YouTube channels.

Are there really that many NFL games that care what Simms, King, and Florio think on the later?

From the number if posts on this thread, viewed by 1500+ fans with so few comments, not really.
