I don't have a lot of information about it but I watched White Noise with Michael Keaton last night reminded me of this movie I saw probably on Netflix.
I'm pretty sure the movie was black and white.
It was probably filmed in the 80's.
Probably an indie film.
Maybe filmed in the outback of Australia. When I think of the movie that's kind of what I picture.
Premise of the movie I think is husband loses a wife and then invents machine to communicate with her or something.
Slow developing film with a oh-that's-cool ending.
Sci fi.

I was also thinking of the Christopher Reeve movie, Somewhere in Time (although that's American)
As tTime Goes By - ( New Window )
He just is in like a grind and in his spare time maybe he's spending time in his garage or basement trying to invent some machine talk to his dead wife or something.
B&W movies since 1970 - ( New Window )
It's about a guy who wants to go back in time to save his wife. You're never quite sure if he's for real or just crazy.
