NFT: Twitter now allows users to disable comments

Thoughts? Sounds like it's going to make twitter a lot more lame to me.
I see both sides

Twitter can be such a cesspool that I get why people would want to remove comments. But it’s also lame of someone that to post a thought that’s inflammatory and then remove comments that don’t like.

I’ll put this in the “who cares” bucket since I don’t use it and don’t ever plan to.

Occasionally, twitter posts could be informational. This would be a good way to keep those threads from joining the cesspool.

Twitter being dominated by bots is relegating the platform's relevance equal with the comments section of Yahoo News article. They have to do something.

Remove individual comments or just turn the whole thing on or off?

Only people tagged in a tweet will be able to respond.
Anyone disabling comments would be

an automatic unfollow for me. I don't know why many get so bent out of shape? Sure, some comments are horrific, but just ignore them. And if the comments get out of hand, mute the thread so you don't get notifications.
This is a good idea

A large portion of twitter responses have proven out to be Russian bots. Another large portion are just people trolling or being nasty.

The best use of the platform IMO is to get instantaneous news from experts/insiders.
It's not disabling comments, it's worse, IMO

Twitter is testing a way to let you limit how many people can reply to your tweets. If you’re part of the test, when you compose a tweet, you’ll be able to select if you’ll allow replies from everyone, people you follow, or only people you @ mention. Twitter said in January that this feature would be coming to the platform sometime this year.

The above is far worse because it's just going amplify the echo chamber effect. On the other hand, it's not like there was much civil discourse going on in the first place, everyone is already entrenches in their positions.

Just take screen shots and comment on it anyway
Twitter is already lame...

anytime ANY platform like that censors content based upon a particular ideological or political belief... that in itself renders it useless and lame.
