NFT: Funniest sitcoms? Need another good one

Sonic Youth : 5/22/2020 1:44 pm
Title says it all. Need another funny sitcom. Dramas are great, but too laborious at times for my ADHD.

For reference, my favorite sitcoms are:

1a) Always Sunny
1b) Seinfeld
3) Curb
4) Silicon Valley
5) The Office

Any recommendations for stuff in this vein?

I never got into it when it was on, but catching the re-runs I now greatly appreciate it.
Oh, and it's not a sitcom, but ....

If you've never watched The Kids in the Hall, they're fantastic and hysterical.

I haven't seen them in so long. That show is hysterical.

but I don't consider it a sitcom. Comedy? Sure, but more of a drama/comedy and not really a sitcom.

Is there going to be a season 3? Hope so.

Gillian Anderson is award worthy IMO.

I believe I read they greenlight a 3rd season but not positive, I'm pretty sure it did well for them so I'd be surprised if they didn't but all productions are in limbo right now so who knows. S2 ended on kind of an over cliched low note so I hope they have a chance to fix that and not end there.

But my top four are Northern Exposure, Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared and Wonderfalls.

And Keeping Up Appearances on PBS. Richard is my hero.

Holy Shit. Wonderfalls. One of my favorites that almost no one knows about. It's so hard to describe the premise to people.
Don’t think I saw it mentioned

But Raising Hope is hilarious as well. My list below there I know there’s duplicates from others.

Seinfeld
The Office
Friends (sister got me into it during season 2 and have always enjoyed it)
Everybody Loves Raymond
Big Bang Theory
King of Queens
Two and a Half Men (mainly the Sheen years)
Chappelle’s Show
Arrested Development (the original seasons, not what Netflix did)
Raising Hope (as mentioned above)
One I did not see mentioned

Is Spin City with Michael J Fox. Great characters and Fox at the top of his game. The show lost a little appeal when Michael had to step down due to his illness. The mayor’s character was hilarious.
Schitt’s Creek

It’s been mentioned a couple times but I’d highly recommend it. It was amazing, and you can easily binge it.
A couple that haven't been mentioned

The first season of Brockmire is as funny a show as I've ever seen, up there with the funniest seasons of Curb your Enthusiasm. Final season kind of went off the rails but Azaria was still great.

If you like British comedy, seasons 2 and 3 of Black Adder is peak Rowan Atkinson brilliance.
Maude...

Soap was hilarious, until it got stupid. I guess all shows run out of ideas after a while.

But haven't seen since the 80's is Moonlighting. I have good but very faint memories of that show.
Taxi, WKRP, and Cheers
PatersonPlank : 5/23/2020 10:20 pm : link
Three of the funniest TV series ever. All have many stars in them and great writing.
Agree with most
NYGIANTS86 : 5/24/2020 12:22 pm : link
WKRP. You'll be amazed at what they got away with on network TV then. Could never do this now.
Community for sure (as mentioned)
Maximus, Esq. : 5/24/2020 9:35 pm : link
and Schitt’s Creek.

I saw Community when it first aired in ‘09-‘15 and I forgot
most of it. I’m currently binging it and am in Season 2. The Halloween episode, and the conspiracy themed episode with Professor Professorson - absolute classics. Incredible show.
