Anyone who dared suggest the blatantly obvious, that Lance was cheating as much or more than his competitors, got attacked by a bunch of drones rattling off all of Lance’s PR talking points about how he never tested positive or whatever.
It should have been obvious he was a low down cheater (better). In no other sport does an athlete go on a undefeated streak like that - except obviously rigged boxing of course.
It appears doping is egregious only in baseball and cycling. If a player gets caught doping in baseball and cycling, they are the most heinous athletes ever. But let an NFL player get caught, absolutely no one cares. The same folks that hate Maguire, Sosa, and Armstrong say absolutely nothing about Julius Peppers, Shawn Springs, and Julian Edelman.
But everyone in pro biking was doping. Everyone. (And probably still are.)
That's why Lance came off as even more smug than he needed to be.
Everyone was doping, so what is the point of denying it? It wasn't even just a denial, but an aggressive denouncement of anyone daring to say he was doping.
Just own what you've done and educate the public that in order to even be competitive in cycling, doping is mandatory.

True, but who does admit to cheating. If he does they strip him of all his titles and if he doesn’t they eventually strip him of all his titles. It was a calculated position. And that’s not to defend him in any way. He made his bed. Glad to see him get whatever he did.

People care in the NFL. They just make next to impossible to get caught in the first place.

The same can be said, to a lesser degree, about Bonds and Clemens.
Look at how history views them vs. Pettitte and others who came clean.
Hell, even A-Rod has redeemed himself and he actually may be the worst user of them all. Pettitte is a good example and one I was thinking of also. He came clean right away and his flimsy explanation was readily accepted.
All I know is, if in a couple of years, Ortiz is voted into the HOF I will lose my shit. I don't know if it will be enought to get me to stop watching, but it might. First of all, without PEDs, he doesn't sniff the HOF. Second, if he gets in with his flimsy excuses, then there is no way you can leave out Clemens or Bonds who technically did not fail a test, while Ortiz did. And A-Rod and him have the same number of failed tests.

At least Lance did something historic.
