A Memorial Day military-history biography of The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier — a monument dedicated to U.S. service members who have died without their remains being identified, located in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. These U.S. Unknowns who were interred are also recipients of the Medal of Honor, presented by U.S. Presidents who presided over their funerals.

Arlington to not only see the cemetery, but witness the changing of the guard at the top of the hour.

Thanks for the reminder Klaatu

Every American should experience the changing of the guard at least once in their lifetime...

I was born and raised in the DC area and served 10 years Active Duty in the military. I’d driven by ANC countless times, but It wasn’t until this January that I ventured onto the grounds and witnessed the changing of the guard. A very humbling experience.
For me, it was the Summer of '74.

14-years old, on vacation with my family. Washington, DC, then Williamsburg, VA. Man, it was brutally hot when we stood by the Tomb and watched the changing of the guard. I remember being amazed that the soldiers could be that precise, that disciplined, in that searing heat.

Never thought I would find that much fascination in a Cemetary.

From Joe Louis's grave, Kennedy graves, Robert Lee's farm house (the cemetery was his farm at 1 point - I never knew that) .... and of course the Tomb and the changing of the guard. The respect those young soldiers show the previous generations of fallen soldiers - is impressive. You can tell they take that position VERY serious.
