NJ allowing teams to hold training camps!

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter

And now New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has announced that, effective today, all professional sports teams in the state can begin training camps while following necessary health protocols.
Yeah baby!

Every one be smart and stay healthy!
Good. The faster we can get back to normalcy and a football season
GiantBlue : 5/26/2020 10:55 am : link
the better....as long as safety standards are met, the players and coaches are healthy and everyone in the building is following strict protocols.

I imagine there will be some sort of temperature checks, questions on how they are feeling, etc. when entering the facility.

What's interesting is travel
DavidinBMNY : 5/26/2020 11:39 am : link
How will organizations manage travel?

Giants have 3 weeks left in their virtual offseason program. Wouldn’t expect this to change anything on that front. Coaches/players still not allowed in the facility. Need everyone to quarantine for 2 weeks whenever they get to NJ. Today’s news is more promising on camp front

Kimberly Jones @KimJonesSports

From #NYG: “Gov. Murphy and his administration continue to guide New Jerseyans through this very difficult time. We have been in close contact with Gov. Murphy’s staff to comply with the state’s protocols throughout.

With today’s announcement by the governor, we are finalizing our plans to reopen the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. We will continue to have as many employees as possible working remotely.

For employees who need to return to work at our facility, we expect to begin that process next week, and we will do so in a systematic and safe way that adheres to the state’s guidelines and NFL protocols.” #Giants

This entire process goes well for the entire country.

Agreed. The Soccer leagues in Europe seem to be getting the hang of this.
Thanks Kim Jones!

On top of this.
The NFL has been very clear with their process.

Management and coaches first and players later on.
Here is the link.

There are phases so nothing really changes from the players' perspective unless they are supposed to be rehabbing in the facility.
Link - ( New Window )
So, workers in the facilities cannot exceed 75 total
robbieballs2003 : 5/26/2020 12:36 pm : link
between all buildings.

No coaches are allowed in at all except the strength and conditioning coach.

No players unless rehabbing.
Eric- I would suggest your modify

your thread title. It’s misleading and not accurate. Facilities will be allowed to open under certain criteria. Plans to allow formal training camps to open are being discussed and will be coordinated with NYS.

The national and local reporters all believe this is the beginning of the process that will allow the Giants to open up camp on July 29th.
Understood and hopefully
Dave on the UWS : 5/26/2020 1:43 pm : link
they are right. There’s a LONG way to go before that. NYC should be opening soon. We have to see what happens when Public transport returns to normal operation. NJ and the whole tri-state area is linked in their approach. Finding a solution for a significant group of people close to each other, without PPE will be necessary, before they will go that route, regardless of the rest of the country. Murphy and Cuomo will be cautious and conservative, as they have been right along.
Is NJ doing the two week quarantine thing?
ron mexico : 5/26/2020 3:32 pm : link
I’m in NJ resident have not heard that
Will be interesting to see how the league

Approaches competitive fairness when certain states appear to ahead of others in economic openness ie Texas vs NJ/NY
Curious to see how the NFL will police violater (Dallas)
George from PA : 5/26/2020 7:21 pm : link
As Texas will be quickest to open.

I also hope....the Giants have contingency plans....if NJ delays their plans....
Yessss!

this is exciting news - to be honest,
Del Shofner : 5/26/2020 8:21 pm : link
I did not expect it so soon in NJ. Hopefully it all works out.

Boy, wouldn't it be nice to have some Giants football, even training camp...
These training camps
djm : 5/26/2020 8:56 pm : link
Might as well be called the nfl trial run. These camps are more important for seeing how shit shakes out in regards to exposure and infection rates. Forget the player progress... after 2 weeks or so we might start talking player development but early on we’re hoping for no news at all.

Sneakers O'toole : 5/26/2020 10:04 pm : link
Same here. I thought there was a strong chance that the Giants were going to have to move camp.

if you have a way of changing the title, especially since pinned, I would as you to do so.

Something like 'NJ allowing reopening of Giants facilities on a limited basis'

Given the stakes and what is going on in social media, I think messages should be crafted with care.

Governor Phil Murphy✔ @GovMurphy

UPDATE: Professional sports teams in NJ may return to training and even competition – if their leagues choose to move in that direction. We have been in constant discussions with teams about necessary protocols to protect the health and safety of players, coaches, and personnel.
That is a more hopeful stance from the Gov
Dave on the UWS : 5/27/2020 12:03 pm : link
It validates Eric's headline. The problem will be how to have 100+ people together for practice, etc. with NO social distancing and no PPE. That's why the NFL has been working on a face shield with N95 components to it. How do you protect players? Every substantial group of people described like this around the country have seen significant outbreaks. Until they figure this out, I'm afraid they are just spinning their wheels, despite what we want.

its called testing, if you are testing players every cpuple of days or even every day, you know if a player is coming onto the field who has it..

if everyone is negative no one is in danger..
