So in the midst of all my boredom being at home, I've taken a bunch of the various clips that I have made for the old game reviews and have been putting them out on twitter.
Anyway, back in 1990, there was a play in the home game vs. the Cardinals, which was better known as the one where Simms got hurt and Hoss came off the bench to lead a late comeback, down 19-10 and ended with a Matt Bahr field goal at the gun to win 20-19. On this play, OJ Anderson was given a handoff and looked ready to flip back to Hoss on a flea flicker. But rather than send it back, he held it, and took off running for a 20 yard gain. It looked like either a broken play or a planned fake flea flicker. On the video, you hear the announcer, Merlin Olson actually say he'd never seen a fake flea flicker before. So for years, I had wondered if this was planned or OJ just made a head's up play. Keep in mind, one of the reasons that Joe Thiesmann had LT break his leg came on a flea flicker. On that play, Riggins sent the ball back to Thiesmann, who had Harry Carson barrel in on him and he was able to get away from Carson, but that forced him to hold the ball just long enough for LT to lunge and change the course of NFL history.
OJ saw something similar with Cardinals coming in on Hoss, and held the ball and ran it up the middle for a nice gain. Anway, I put the question out on Twitter a couple of days ago and tagged OJ:
Inquiring minds want to know. In 1990, the #NYGiants beat the Cardinals on a late Matt Bahr FG with Hoss coming in to replace an injured Simms. Before that

ran this play. Planned fake flea flicker or a head's up play? Garrett needs to add this to the playbook |
And today I got my answer:
Ottis OJ Anderson

I am sorry you could not hold your annual Charity Golf Event this year. What a great cause. I will miss watching you hit at least 25 golf balls in the water on the Par 3.
He's bringing the jabs on twittah.
That's awesome, thanks for the nudge.
Cool, thanks, the mentions are going nuts so I see it. Slight payback for when I blew up your feed on Daniel Jones draft night, lol.

You've got some of my favorite stuff in there... you know I love that '84 KC game. Also, I haven't seen that Meggett play in Denver in decades other than the highlight tape.
Yup, I have it. I'll post it in the next day or so.
bumping this up for you Eric. I just posted the highlight of Headen's TD vs. Dallas. Headen's speed is amazing, and he was a backup.

I was so happy after that game. 2-0. in the East. 2-0 against Philly and Dallas. We were on our way. 81 was the end of losing, but 84 was the start of greatness.
