NFT: One of the best series i've seen that no one watches

cjac : 5/27/2020 4:35 pm
Never saw a conversation about this on here, and its on EPIX, a premium movie channel that maybe not everyone has.

But anyone seen Get Shorty?

Loosely based on the movie, a gangster wants to produce a movie.

3 seasons, i'm hearing season 4 may be coming in October, but I wont be surprised if its delayed due to whats going on right now.

Anyone else like this one as much as I do?
I've had some interest,

but never got around to it. Feel like I'll get there eventually.
We loved the TV version of Get Shorty...

As you said, loosely based on the Elmore Leonard novel and the movie, but this is terrific in its own right. Chris O'Dowd is great as the lead and the rest of the cast really grows on you with some familiars like Ray Romano as a barely hanging on producer. EPIX is cheaper than many pay channels ($6/month, sometimes 1/2 off intro) and worth it for this series.

If you get EPIX, make sure to see The King of Harlem starring Forest Whitaker as Harlem crime boss (Bumpy Johnson) returning from jail looking to re-establish his life and turf. The cast is outstanding including Giancarlo Esposito as Adam Clayton Powell and the actor who plays Malcolm X nails it.

Thanks I was thinking about trying that one. I watched War of the Worlds which I loved too. Makes the Covid look liked child’s play.
Get Shorty is great!

Not to mention the soundtrack, which is 99.9% drumming by the great Antonio Sanchez. I went to college with him back in the day, and he was a badass then, as he is now. He also did the drumming for Birdman, and has recorded and toured alot with Pat Metheny (among many other things).

The show is really fun. Totally worth checking out.
Agree on get shorty as well

All the actors are really really good in their roles. Just fun to watch. If you would have told me before it came on that Chris O'Dowd would be a convincing bad guy I would have said you were crazy.

His partner in crime is just as awesome. I heard it want coming back so we were bummed.

War of the Worlds was streamed for free for non subscribers holy shit was that bleak.

I really liked it but man there wasn't one happy moment.

Hung in for a while and enjoyed many of the other portrayals. Big Ray fan and always thought he should have more roles though typecasting can be a bitch.
