I was not a huge fan of Garrett as a HC but I think we may have one of the most solid coordinators in the NFL. We probably only have him for a year or two if he's successful so let's hope Danny Dimes ramps up quickly to the new offensive schemes.

I’m hoping that if Garrett does turn around this offense, he has someone at his side as an assistant that could step in if or when he leaves.

In house options probably Kitchens or Dooley. Kitchens has a long relationship with Judge. To go from HC to position coach he is likely trying to rehab his standing and/or was given some assurances in case the offense did well enough that caused Garrett to be hired elsewhere. Dooley coached under Nick Saban when he was with Miami Dolphins and also was on Garrett’s staff in Dallas.
This staff is going to get so much more out of the players it’s not even funny. Didn’t think we had 4-12 talent last year. Think they can be a LOT better than many think. Coaching is that important.
I think Kitna was probably being a little over-complimentary,
... I didn’t get much from the article. Garrett is an aggressive play caller, and he alters the running game to suit his personnel. OK.
How did Garrett adjust when his OL was missing stars like Smith and Frederick? That might be more predictive of what he’ll do in 2020, because our starting line is still about halfway between Dallas’s starters and their backups.

I thought there were interesting insights on Garrett's offensive philosophy, how he handles quarterbacks and running backs; how Marc Colombo coaches; Cam Fleming; and Cooper Rush.
I learned more from this article about Garrett and Colombo than I've read in any other piece this offseason.

This is partly why I may be a little more optimistic about the offensive line. I really do believe our primary issue over the past few years has been coaching.
You cannot tell me that every free agent pickup and every draft pick has been a complete miss. Even throwing darts at the player selections would have yielded better results.
Then, we saw scheme film last year from Baldinger where he points out poor technique or blocking assignments.
i'm cautiously optimistic re Garrett but it could go either way
I value his experience as a head coach, especially his familiarity within the division. You can't argue with his track record of success so I'd imagine there will be a lot of helpful info for Judge. And clearly there are some schematic philosophies he's had that have been effective. He's been part of the development of 2 good QB's who weren't high picks, several good RB's even before Zeke, and obviously an elite OL.
As an offensive playcaller however there's a legitimate question since he just hasn't done it in a while. This past year's Cowboy offense made some innovative adjustments and Dak took a leap forward, but how much of that was Kellen Moore vs. Garrett? I guess we will find out in a few months.

Agreed Eric. I loved it because it was positive for sure, but the insight on Garrett and Colombo, as well as Rush and Fleming really stood out to me. I feel like the offense as a whole is going to take a step forward. And I'm really optimistic (and excited to see) about what Garrett will do for Jones and Barkley.
One point I would make however with regard to Jason Garrett's O. It is one that Tony Romo has made on occasion when commenting from the booth on Cowboy games.
Sometimes in hey moments on key plays the Cowboy O got stagnant i.e. there was no motion no trickery just line up and try to overpower the other guys or extreme simplicity in play design
After watching the Niners it is hard to believe any team can win by being stagnant on O
Hey Bruce! Yeah we were actually going to be recording at the end of April to release a new CD this year but everything got canceled. As soon as we are able we'll get back to gigging and we will definitely reschedule the recording, we have a bunch of new material. Also we're recording in the guy that started Windham Hill Records Will Ackerman's studio in Vermont. So SO looking forward to that. I know my pop posted an older video recorded by an audience member from some coffee house in CT on youtube, I'll see if I can find a link for ya.

Kitna said. "Of all those guys coming out last year, this guy was the best one, not even close, from 20 yards and in. He would dice people up. He knew exactly where to go with the football. He was accurate as heck from 20 yards and in… He's everything that you're looking for in a quarterback. He's mobile enough, but he's a person that's going to play the game from the pocket first. You just love that. The sky is the limit for him, honestly."
and two of the best tackle prospects we’ve had in a while. It was strange, Flowers was such a high pick but even given that there were a lot more mixed reviews.
Garrett I’m more mixed on, he seems to have a great offensive mind but to others points would love to see us more involved in newer ideas in motion stuff especially with Saquon and potentially run looks for Jones. Would love to see them mimic things the Ravens do. I do think that’s where Judge comes in though not only are the Pats great at finding and exploiting matchups but he has the makings of someone that could help and motivate someone like Garrett to add new wrinkles.
Garrett is the best coach we’ve had here since in any capacity since coughlin was wacked following 2015. If judge is the goods we won’t know what do do with ourselves.

Excellent insights. They give more explicit insights on important things we should evolve as the season plays out. It's also really interesting to get Kitna's eval on Jones.

I thought Daniel Jones was the Giants qb. Who is Danny Dimes and when did they sighn him?
We seem to have the same take from this article
Yes, Kitna is a guy with an insiders view but he is clearly choosing to be effusive in his praise.
It’s pretty vanilla, but in the current climate I understand why people
are seeing it as a ten scoop sundae
That article was the BEST by far and any doubts I have had about Garrett after listening to all these Cowboy fans dissing him, are now gone.
Us getting Colombo was just as huge. When we lost out on the other OL coach we wanted, it was imperative we get Colombo. We did and now I’m not worried about our OL this coming year. We’ve added the players to go along with better coaching. Like Kitna said, the OL will look even better when Jones releases on time and doesn’t hold it to long.
Lol, Kitna sounded like a father talking up his kid after they already got the job.
Anyway, getting pumped over the way Judge’s staff came together. Especially on O. Because of knowing the actors involved mostly.
On D TBD imv. Don’t know about those guys but they’re connected in some way to Judge which means they’re on the same page. They also have a lot of young talent to mold. Mostly a fresh canvas to start with.
Bottomline: things are looking way up in my book. Might sound rosy but I think a sniff at the playoffs isn’t totally absurd
Good to see you post. Stay safe my friend

Even so, I'm just glad the Giants finally have what seem like *real* coaches. Its been about 4 or 5 years.

Hi Bill! Always great to see you here. Hope you are well my friend!
And... I can't believe I leave my computer for a few hours and I actually got my first sticky! lol
Really got my juices flowing.

Hey J5, Any CDs of late or a YouTube page?
100% agreed, best thing I read and I believe it as well. Great post!
But I am ready to run through a wall for JJ, JG, MC.

That would really hurt. Re-think this?

He's a guy who can step in and start a few games if needed but he is not someone you want as a full time starter.

Not even sure what year this is, it's somewhere in CT... may 2012?

I don't disagree Jay from what I remember with his play. But those comments in that article go a bit further than backup.
Maybe just coach-speak but just sayin'.
