Ha, a million years ago before we got married we had to go to these dumbass Catholic Pre-Cana meetings. Our "advisor" was my junior by 6 years. They had questions we had to answer and one was "What makes you angry?" Only thing I could think of was - "when the Giants lose." Guy got freaking livid. Thought I was punking him...my wife told him no, that I had answered truthfully. The only time she had ever seen me angry is after the Giants lost.. Guy shook his head...
I don't, at least I don't think I do, and when I am confronted with hate I try not to respond in kind, I try and meet that hate with empathy and love because for someone to have hate in their heart something terrible had to happen to them or they just feel really shitty about themselves and hate helps them cope (IMO).
I'm not always successful, I'm human, but that's the approach I try and use and that's how I try and raise my kids.
But, Trevor Noah posted a long video, not from the show but him personally with no jokes, that was a pretty solid explanation of the current state of affairs. Check it out.

"With no jokes"
Isn't that every single one of Trevor Noah's monologues?
But nothing is ever just binary. To say hating hatred is bad because hate is bad is just too simplistic. It’s one thing to argue that you should try to understand why someone who hates others arrived at such hate. It’s even understandable to argue that you shouldn’t hate those people for their own hate (even their hate if you). However, it’s not a bad thing to hate the hatred we feel. Abhorring and not tolerating the hatred in our world isn’t a bad thing or a wrong thing.
Interesting question, different ways to answer it I guess.

Dina Byrnes: I had no idea you could milk a cat!
Greg Focker: Oh, you can milk just about anything with nipples.
Jack Byrnes: [He reacts] I have nipples, Greg, could you milk me?

Hate seems to come across much stronger. Honestly, how do you combat hate? How do you love those that hate?
