but i think setting a target date is a major step.
Curious if the fact that Disney is hoping to reopen the first half of july has caused the delay in locking that in as the site. Seems like it was a done deal and then it got quiet. It still probably makes the most sense.
Thank God whatever play-in tournament they have in mind doesn't include the Knicks. They'd beat the Pacers or something and wind up in the playoffs and drafting 16th in the first round.

sounds like the only scenario they would play is 6 game season
Gotta imagine they do some type of finish to regular season.
& I hope they just go 1-22, screw conferences. I wish they'd do that anyways. The best 16 teams winning percentage wise, regardless of conference, get in. The East has been so bad for so long compared to the West.
for both the NBA and NHL (at least assuming the plans to finish this season don't fall apart). They're going to have to pack the schedule tightly, and I'd imagine injuries will be up a fair bit.
Just can't skip to the playoffs, gotta let these guys get some work in.
Teams can pair up and do some scrimmages. No sense bringing bad teams back to play a few games and put older coaches and trainers at risk
The 20 team model seems sensible - just wish the nhl and nba were starting a little earlier than basically August Based on what we are seeing in sports abroad and the hospitalization trends here I know we want to be careful but early or mid July seemed more practical. Especially since we’re confident tHe summer is lower risk than the fall which is when
The finals will now take place

Think this is just right. Valiquette yesterday said about his time with Isles when the team was out of it, they couldn't wait for the season to be over and done. In whatever pro sport that is trying to re-start its season, makes zero sense to bring back non-playoff teams for any games.
Re: summer lower risk than fall, prolly, but September/October can be very warm months, but just like covid, this year weather-wise has been atypical, warm and snow-less winter in the NE, unusually cool spring, so far.
It srill baffles me how that season played out, i rememeber beginning of the season fizdale had frank dot hardaway knox and mitch starting, they went 3-2 and were playing well, he then changed the lineup..
Eveey 5 games he changed the lineup, the season should of been getting as many minutes for the young guys as possible..
even this game starters mudiay hardaway hezonja vonleh and kanter, young kids come in 15 point lead for bucks gone..
Oh and trier is going to brooklyn and become a 6th man of the year..
Yeah, that five-game stuff with Fizdale was a joke.
I recall complaining about it at the time. Fizdale milked that "developmental year" for all it was worth and wound up making a mockery of it. He had the offseason to sort out some lineups, and then use training camp/preseason to experiment a bit and see what worked. After the first 15-20 games, a rotation should have been set - that's part of his job as coach.

To me there was nothing to iron out, you had a free year, everyone knew you were tanking, play the young guys and thats it
I’m hoping the roster is a little more organized going forward.
13 teams in the West and 9 in the East will come back, everyone playing 8 games to determine playoff seedings, and then a play-in series for the 8th seed (the 9th seed may have to be within a certain number of games of the 8th to force a play-in series, not really sure).
Games will be at Disney (all that stalling for nothing...). link - ( New Window )
The Knicks have been relegated from the NBA. Long, long overdue. This should provide Dolan more time to send emails to his employees explaining his thinking on race issues in the United States. He's so vile and inept he even screwed that up.
You get some format done and agreed upon then move on to safety and logistics then announce a projected date. He's an idiot. Hockey will play before any other major team sport.

Wtf? Silver is universally regarded as the best commissioner in sports. He does a fantastic job. I’m not following you here. Why exactly is he a dips shit? Because he’s not doing what you want?

haha - relegated! This season was such a wasted one for the Knicks that I have no bad feelings that it's over. On to the draft and a new coach...
There’s at least a half a dozen horrendous players we’ll never again see in a Knicks uniform. Bobby Portis tweeted something about being sorry he couldn’t continue his strong second half - I needed that laugh during these depressing times.

I still think a good coach wouldnof built a system around these players. The system should of been built around ball movement and gettinf up an down, instead it was 1 on 1 iso which was moronic..
You saw it a little bit with Millrr but it was to late..
I would keep Bullock, Gibson most likely staying with Thibs, Payton i wiuld consider depending on draft and if they trade for Paul..
If the Knicks keep going on the young player path rather than trading for a star player. The system has to be built around Barrett, Mitch and the draft pick this year..
No more 1 year stop gaps coming in and trying to get theirs, you have to surround those 3 with competent good vets..
Give the keys to Barrett and hopefully Lamelo, and putting shooters and defenders around them
“ On Thursday, the NBA's board of governors overwhelmingly approved a proposal for 22 teams to return to play, starting July 31 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Exactly. What do you think the casual sports fan is watching in July-an NBA Finals game or a random baseball game?
Im not a big NBA fan, not by a long shot, way more of a hockey guy. So im usually more preoccupied with the Stanley Cup playoffs from April-June. However, I dont HATE the NBA, and if presented with the option of a regular season baseball game and an NBA Finals game, thats not even a choice:). Its obvious why the NHL wants to play in the cooler months-most games played on ice would probably want to go that route- but ive never been able to understand why the NBA follows almost the same sked. To me Basketball should be a spring/summer sport. I would think you are correct-NBA would dominate baseball if they played in July and August.
You celebrating tonight? What are you gonna drink? Some stouts? Some ales?

Maybe a nice IPA?

Players are pretty adamant about getting back.
sounds like the only scenario they would play is 6 game season
apparently it is 16, 20 or 22 teams with an outside chance at 30 teams..
20-22 teams, i think it was Shelbourne that said it would involve teams 6 hames back
only problem for nba is july they dominate the news cycle
yeah thats true, finals in july or august would be fun, nothing to compete besides midseason baseball..
it took me a couple of minutes to refresh my memory as to Bobby Portis and Wayne Ellington in Knick uniforms....
What a wasted season for the Knicks. Other than the apparent management change, which hopefully is for real.

Ellington and Bullock getting minutes over Trier and Dotson was truly remarkable.
The people at most risk will have to make their own decisions as the country reopens.

Knicks would end up with 8
They already agreed on the safety and logistics..
Hockey doesnt even have a location yet

And now watch the Wizards somehow win it all, Haha.
