Coughlin

The player.

The link in Defenderdawg post (H/T) really opened my eyes.

A mystery as to why with his tape and combine he lasted that long.

Is he downgraded as a classic 'tweener' going from a 4-3 to a 3-4?

Love his instincts and athleticism.

We may have something!
Coughlin OLB - ( New Window )
I have a feeling
Jay on the Island : 5/31/2020 11:20 am : link
That Coughlin will eventually move to the inside.

And I doubt he’ll be late doing it

He was very quick on the inside rush but I hope he won't -- we need more help on the OLB I think.

Do you think he won't be able to defend the outside run?

OLB is a little crowded and when you add in his short arms he might be more effective in he the middle where he could still be used as a pass rusher inside.

In my opinion I think we are thinner at OLB than ILB currently (assuming Connelly is healthy).

I believe he got a lot of his inside rushes on stunts, which he can stil do as an OLB.

I don’t know much about Coughlin but if he can rush from the edge he’s gonna play outside; especially with the lack of pass rushers this team has.
Jay - outside and specifically edge defender
BlueLou'sBack : 5/31/2020 5:47 pm : link
is not CC's natural position. He's an off ball LB naturally who filled in remarkably well at edge to get Minnesota's best players on the field.

He's a childhood friend of your Badger, Ryan Connelly.

CC is very:

(A) Instinctive and disciplined.
(B) Never out of position.
(C) Excellent Edge Run Defender.
(D) Adequate Zone Pass Defender.

As per Joe Judge, the Giants will use all of their LBs in different sub packages according to the opponent, the down and the distance.

It would be cool to see them playing together. I was hoping for Badger Chris Orr, but this could work as well 😊

Thanks for the clarifications!
Seems to have natural pash rushing ability
jamalduff123 : 6/1/2020 1:12 am : link
Has a knack for finding gaps on those stunt blitzes. We'll see if he can transition to the pros, but looks like he could be an intriguing role player.
As a 7th Rd Draft Pick
John In CO : 6/1/2020 9:13 am : link
I want to see if he even makes the team before talking what he can or can not do on a football team beyond contributing on special teams. The numbers say that the most likely scenario for our 7th rd picks is the PS or cut.
His real value seems
JFIB : 6/1/2020 11:05 am : link
to be as a guy who can stunt from the edge, stay low and sneak in the gap to get to the QB. I can't imagine he's got enough size to seal the edge but he might make a good pass rush specialist in that regard.
