I'm not sure where they are going to play him. They gave him a DL jersey number, but I originally thought they would have him line up with the OLBs.
impresses me. Intelligence. All (or almost all) of these players have been good students. Smart, teachable and able to learn and retain info quickly. Don't know how it translates to the football field, but it doesn't hurt
I always feel the trenches are for men....not boys

I think that Austin Johnson was a very underrated signing
He will be a solid part of the rotation at NT allowing Lawrence to focus more on DE. I’m expecting a big jump from Lawrence this season where he will be the best player on defense.

As I recall, Lalos spoke with Graham, Spencer, and Bielema when the Giants called him. They could have him earmarked for double-duty should he stick. I'm going to guess that they gave him a DL number simply because there were more of those to give out.

I go back and forth on Lawrence. On one hand, I think he'd be more effective as a NT if they're going with three down linemen. On the other, if I'm not mistaken, Haloti Ngata (whom I see as a good comparison to Lawrence) had some of his best years when he was used as a 3-4 DE.
Could you please support your contention, even if a bit (or more) tongue in cheek. Two years (the first, a lost one) in and what, exactly, has he shown you in his relatively limited snaps?

If they can get the practice time to jive with coach chaos, they have the potential to defensively dominate the LOS and really wreak havoc. I’m very excited about our defense.
Has the natural ability to become special but I believe that’s at NT the rest are all just hope and prayer players. We can’t be the same DL again no pass rush at all that’s got to change but I don’t see anyone in this group to provide consistent pass rush. It’s great that they may provide solid rush defense but it’s a passing league today. They are mostly all young but have not shown the disruptive nature in game not sure if you can teach that. The League may be shifting back more towards the run game.
who have the players and are built for that style of football.
Honestly, glad to see some teams returning to the run oriented offense. There of course or elements of a passing game, but they are run first. Blow people off the ball.

Fully agree on all your points. IF the Giants can nab a Khalil Mack type next year in the 1st round, that'll go a LOOOONG way to helping this team to buck it's losing ways.
have to be mindful of clusters and not so much individual rankings. for example - re: rushing defense 13th ranked team allowed 108 yards/game only 5 yards less. 25th ranked team - allowed only 8 yards more/game.
when you go to pro football reference site they give yards per attempt and Giants are ranked 4, but then again you have to look at the clusters - top 2 teams 3.3/attempt, next 4 teams 3.9 3.9, further down the line 10 teams allowed between 4.1 & 4.2 yards/attempt
