NFT: For Sonic Youth and other Music Fans...

NPR has opened some of their archives and posted about 100 shows they've broadcast live since 2005 from the venable 9:30 Club in D.C. I noticed there's a show by Sonic Youth from 2007 I thought might interest you. Lots of great names on the list...I'm going to have a busy week listening to some of them!
Lonk - ( New Window )
one of the best concerts

I ever went to in a small venue was Mighty Mighty Bosstones and the Pietasters at the 9:30 Club.

This had to be 1997/1998 or so.

place was jammed, crowd was great, I was young, in a mosh pit, drunk, and having fun.

do they go back that far?
No,2005.

place. Been going to shows there since 1997 when I first left Long Island for college in York, PA and was within driving distance. I remember being scared shitless of the neighborhood back then and now my brother lives a few blocks away in a very different, gentrified version of the same part of the universe. I stand in the same exact spot for every show, on the left side, next to the bar, half-way between the stage the the back. I can't wait to be able to stand in that spot again.
I saw Sonic Youth open up for Neil Young & Crazy Horse

on the Ragged Glory Tour in February 1991 at the Buffalo Auditorium. The ended up getting boo'ed off the stage which was a shame, I didn't know who they were at the time, but I kind of liked them. They were definitely a bit out there and probably too musically adventurous for most of the crowd who had showed up. I bought their album Goo a year or two later and really liked it.

By the way, it was not at all lost on me that I was in Buffalo less than three weeks after the Giants had beaten the Bills in SB XXV. Good times!

Used to go there every so often back ...

... in the 1980s. My friends and I definitely saw Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper there.
We had a friend who bartended at Chadwicks and his brother was partners in a restaurant ... American something; can't recall.
I'm a little disappointed that The Cramps link only went to their Wikipedia page -- but there are a lot of good shows available, so thanks!
