NFT: Upcoming ESPN 30 for 30 on Bruce Lee

Tony in Tampa : 6/2/2020 8:34 am
Really looking forward to this. As a kid in the 70s the legend of Bruce Lee and hero worship of the man amongst me and my friends was amazing. He had his own mythos and was the definition of cool and badass. We used to half joke that when he died he was not really dead. You know, Bruce Lee, Elvis and James Dean were not dead in the 70s they were all secretly living on an island somewhere :)

Anyone else looking forward to this?
I think he's one of the most compelling figures of the 20th century.

Theres not a lot of culturally groundbreaking movie star philosophers floating around, ya know?
Already set the DVR

Fists of Fury is available on Amazon Prime right now as well, so I'm introducing my son to Bruce and he's enthralled.

If you have the Enter the Dragon DVD/Blu-Ray, I believe the entire famous "Be Water" interview is on there.
When is It On?

I just can't think of Bruce Lee

anymore without thinking of his appearance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Quote:
Bruce Lee: You're the one with the big mouth, and I would really enjoy closing it, especially in front of all my friends. But my hands are registered as lethal weapons. That means, we get into a fight, I accidentally kill you? I go to jail.

Cliff Booth: Anybody accidentally kills anybody in a fight, they go to jail. It's called manslaughter.
that whole scene is fantastic, haha

I was watching it yesterday in fact. When Pitt throws him into the car I lose it every time. I know the ending scene with Pitt is what he's famous for from this movie, but i'd argue that his scene with Bruce Lee was the best of the movie.
Personally my favorite parts are the Spahn Ranch sequences

Especially when Cliff walks out of George Spahn's house to find all of the Family staring menacingly at him. In what is, on the whole, a fun movie, it creates a legitimately unsettling and disturbing atmosphere. Cliff doesn't know how violent these people are. He just thinks they're weirdos, but we know what kind of people they are.

That has to be one of the most awesome scenes in movie history.
Just set my DVR.

Myself and sons were very into martial arts (all black belts). I read just about every book on Lee. Amazing personality. His premature death just adds to the mystique.
