Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to sign his $31.4 million exclusive franchise tender by Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The agreement means the two sides now have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal. Once Prescott officially signs his franchise tender, he will be contractually obligated to report to Cowboys training camp whether or not the two have a long-term agreement in place. |
Exactly.
Lets say he wins and gets an extra couple of mil per year. Wow, who cares? But leta look at the downside. Injury. If he gets injured he's screwing himself. Covid. If this virus hits the NFL and things occur then I see two things happening. One, revenue will be decreased either with lack of fans or a shortened season. If that happens the money might not be there next year. Teams like Dallas have to shed money to fit under the cap next year. What about the 120% rule? If the season is shortened then he's not going to qualify for the 120% rule as the FT next year will probably be higher than the 120%. He's screwing himself out of a lot of money imo over a couple of mil per year. Horrible job imo.

He should have signed the long term deal the Cowboys had on the table. He's completely overvaluing himself.

Yeah, I have to admit I agree with Robbie..
Jerry is not letting go of Dak.
Correct, after July 15 Dak cannot sign an extension. He must play on the tag for 2020 and then the process starts over next offseason.
Everyone thinks they're worth it. Rational or not it's probably required genetic material to be a top 32 QB.
He signed.
