But beyond how long it took I cannot think of a worse time to do this? What if there are no fans or limited fans? Seems not well thought out. I don't want to say embarrassing but it doesn't seem right at all.
it would have been pretty easy to do it after either of the Super Bowl wins.
... Or after he set (and still has btw) basically every single school passing record? It's been almost 17 years I don't even know why he had to play his whole NFL career before his COLLEGE could retire his number. Just weird to me, but whatever better late than never.

Good point. Plus, remember his last standing ovation at MetLife was to a sparse crowd.
Not sure why folks are fussing about the timing? Seems like perfect timing to me. They waited until after he retired from the NFL. No Corona, and he would have a great weekend at Ole Miss for the retirement celebration. Can't do that during the NFL season.

When you think about it Eli would have had to travel to Miss on Sat of a game week or during one of his bye weeks.
That’s a real numbers crunch when it comes to jersey numbers.
#10 in your program and #1 in your heart!
Congrats Eli!
Me too. Seems way late.
Eli looks like he is still in great shape.
