I thought there was no early release from federal prison. Even with a state prison sentence, I believe the standard to be considered for early release is that the inmate needs to serve 2/3 of their sentence.
The article also says his release is not related to COVID-19.
Hmmmm....redemption?
RE: Wonder who he has in the Leicester City vs Brighton soccer match
Net $7M - pay back $5M - pay a lawyer $500K - get in shape over the course of a year in a country club prison - return to society a changed man with over a $1M profit from your scam.
Write a book - do a TV movie - net another $1M.
Charge $50-$100K to give a canned 45 minute speech twenty times a year until no one cares.
Not exactly only thing is u dont have to be worried about is being shanked everyday (and maybe molested too)
prison system is so overcrowded its not exactly the picnic its made out to be.
And alot of DC street thugs wind up in fed prison
being surrounded by 90% assholes for 24/7 is not a country club
Not hard time but your just not going in their to lift weights and sleep
food is abysmal too from what I heard :)
He was in the minimum security unit of a high security prison. He never set foot in the high security unit. Prisoners are allowed to wander around freely in Federal minimum security prisons. There was zero chance Carton was going to be shanked, raped or even spoken rudely to. And he probably met some Wall Street-type inside and got tips on how to get to the money he stashed away before being sentenced.

In California, the minimum standard now is one third of the sentence, or it some rare cases of multiple offenses even less if the sentence for the "primary" offense is less than one third the total atsentencing.
In case you haven't heard, the US' prison systems are grossly overcrowded. The US holds 25% of the world's incarcerated population total, despite only comprising 4% of the world's total population.
Sentences typically in the US are longer and more punitive than anywhere else in the world.
These numbers began to change in the 1980s I think, when the "war on crime" started and the whole idea of incarceration changed from a "penitentiary" system to "corrections", ie punishment.

Good post. Having your freedom taken away from you for an unknown extended time period is much more punitive than many folks realize.
I mean, guys like to bitch about how their wives try to run their lives...
Substitute Joe the Prison guard for your wife, make his power over you absolute, and try that on for size.

You couldn't pay me any amount of money to serve time in any prison system. Fuck that noise.
I don't believe that imprisonment just for punitive measures helps our society. it should be used as a deterrent, not just to punish. Carton did a year plus, hopefully he learned his lesson and doesn't try to pull any more bullshit.
That said, I hope he stays away from WFAN because he sucked.
bottom line: he's an asshole. And if WFAN is that desperate that
Beningo clearly doesn't want to be there, particularly with no sports. He will retire early and Carton will come back in another 6-12 months in afternoon drive with Evan when sports have finally returned to normalcy.

Beningo is a miserable fuck. I’ve grown sick of his act. I don’t think he wants be employed anymore but sort of has to.

I have linked a video on punitive imprisonment from the Chabad Jewish movement's perspective, FYI.
