This is not going to end well (Or start well)
I suppose it is better than nothing but cant you just see so many issues crop up?
Players opting out, players being quarantined etc...
but let's take it for what it is - a nice distraction; something to lose your mind to for a couple hours every night that isn't COVID or race or election related.
isn't baseball the sport in which all the players are spitting all the time?
BTW, if the pitcher is throwing a spitter, who is gonna want to catch it or throw it? Are managers still gonna stand nose to nose to scream at the umps?
Baseball does have one advantage over hockey and basketball, it is played outdoors (mostly).
I stopped following the sport after the strike, but I'm happy for the BBIers who still do.

Yeah, all true. Worth trying but I'm not optimistic.
but man they made it tough. Had both sides come out and said 60 games was the safest they could do and it worked for both sides and all that id be good with it. But the way this came together has turned me off. The length is too short but under the circumstances it doesnt bother me too much.

40 games divisional and 20 games regional. Math does not equate as to an even schedule where all teams face the same teams playing against each other same number of games.

Not sure what you’re talking about. There are only 5 teams in the NL East...
BigBlueShock: When I googled it the grouping for NL East was listed
as Mets, Marlins, Philly, Pirates, Nationals, and Braves. I was surprised by the addition of the Pirates. So I checked this site again which shows same info 6 teams and this info is wrong. Five teams, pirates are NL Central. Thank you for the correction. I should have questioned it when I first read it.

baseball also has a long history with asterisks. Get a bunch ready.
and baseball tradition, I wonder how they'll treat it if someone bats .400
I know battering average is an old school stat, but batting ..400 still means something.
but probably not so much in a 60 game season.
I can't think of many other achievements that would be easier in a short season.
Every other industry in the world evolves or dies. Tradition is a crap argument (and I’m not picking on your individual post it’s a broader point) Bottom line 60 games plus a playoff is better than continued nothing and nights watching an election cycle, race war, riots and protests. Let’s play - I don’t give a shit if it’s an asterisk, so are the astros anyway. Let’s all hope enough players can stay healthy to make this entertaining
The NBA - well, I'm a Knicks fans so waiting a while is just fine.
Interested in the Rangers though.

No fans at all?

I don’t get the fatalism among the Mets’ own fans. nl champs in 2015, wild card 2016, made an amazing run last year 49-26 after the break.
Don’t get why Mets fans pile on the team like they are never in it. It’s just not the case.

That said, I wish everyone well and hope something good comes of it.
LOL. Yeah, it takes at least that number of games to determine who the better team is..
+10000

Means Mets likely open up against one of PHL, ATL or FLA.
26 days to go!!
