I’m almost afraid to ask ... have lingering PTSD from the constant, cascading injuries on the Yanks the past 2 years. Man, would love to see this squad at full force for a sustained stretch at some point.
and Stanton both expect to be ready "opening day". Yankees haven't given an update on Judge in about a month.
"The last time anybody from the Yankees spoke publicly about Judge, who has been nursing a fractured right rib, was on May 22.
That was when hitting coach Marcus Thames told the YES Network’s Meredith Marakovitz that Judge hadn’t yet begun swinging.
“He walks by the cage,” Thames said of Judge at the time. “He walks in and helps the guys pick up balls. He really wants to get going. But we just want to stay safe and when the doctors turn him loose, he’ll be ready to go. But he’s chomping at the bit to get out there and start working hard on his swing.”
Since then, it’s been radio silent on the Yankees’ two-time All-Star."
Good for Hicks and Judge, haven't seen anything on Stanton
sounds fucking miserable. I'm pretty much always half glass full but I can't help wondering how fast Judge will re-injure himself (or when he will even get back to it).
Jim Bowden tweeted yesterday the the Yankees were "optimistic"
whether he's truly healthy will be unknown. He apparently broke a rib diving for that ball in Sept last year, and don't think he missed a game.
Curious to see what injuries are like, for Yanks and every team. I'm sure a lot of guys have been working out to stay in shape...but that's not the same as playing ball. I suspect we'll see a lot of pulled hammys, strained calfs, sore shoulders, etc
But I'm sure Stanton will look great with his shirt off!
If these guys can't make it through a 60 game season...
Hicks - he may play as many as 20 games before something rips tears or pulls while lifting in Gym.
Stanton - will start slow before he needs to shut it down for a while after ten games or so for cramps/pulls/tears/strains and will be day-to-day for rest of season.
Judge - as a precaution Yanks will rest him for first 50 games. In remaining ten games a pull will occur and he will be shut down until 2022 season.
quick takeaway - Stanton is ready now, Hicks is real close, no recent updates (last 4 weeks) have been given on Judge.
