NFT: Mets sign Pete Crow-Armstrong

KDavies : 6/25/2020 4:39 pm
per MLB Trade Rumors. Full slot.

One pick unsigned. They have $2.6 million left for JT Ginn. Should get it done.
Thanks for the info. Signing both Crow-Armstrong and Ginn would be

huge.
I wonder if baseball will still be the thing we remember

by the time PCA is in the majors. I think 2020 and 2021 are going to be a debris field in pro sports. Lots of rubble, not much left standing. But maybe 2022 is better. What's left then?

So why even bother getting out of bed in the morning? JFC people need to sack the fuck up.

I get out of the bed in the morning to work, provide for my family, enjoy life as I'm able and do what I can to make the world better. Feels like enough sack for me. If you're feeling more manly, more power to you.
met draft

Met draft. I expect players capable of playing in MLB to be dominant players in high school and college. I understand that the 2020 season was very abbreviated but the performance of the players drafted by the Mets (after Crow Armstrong) makes me wonder how they project to be solid MLB players

TJ Ginn coming off TJ surgery
Geene BA 2020 067
Walters 2020 BA 271
Dyer BA 2020 204
Orze 2020 19 innings pitched 22 hits

I had a similar thought. It's a weird year -- what criteria are the Mets using to pick their guys?

Taking out Walters because he clearly was drafted due to bonus numbers, I don’t think the Mets emphasized 2020 performance when they already had a solid feel on the player. Too small of a sample size to just go off of BA unless it was someone that you didn’t have on your radar already or the player hadn’t previously put together the tools you felt he had. With Orze, he was coming off of injury and his splitter is supposedly a far better pitch than you typically see from a 5th Round college arm. The question is whether he will have enough with his other pitches to be a starter. He did have more hits than IP, but only 1 went for extra bases. That makes me wonder if his fielders were just so poor that balls which would have been ground outs with a better team were getting through for singles.
Good analysis

guys.

draft stats, not stuff. makes sense - especially in high school and college. Look up Jacob deGrom's pitching stats at Stetson. Granted it was just mostly one year, but the Mets drafted him as a pitcher.

Mike Trout never played OF until his senior year in HS.

the MLB draft is hardly about HS or even college stats.
