XBRONX : 6/28/2020 7:57 am : link
is just terrible, but I thought I read violent crime in Albany is trending down.
How..
FatMan in Charlotte : 6/28/2020 8:03 am : link
is this a sign of the times and what does it have to do with Albany??

Are people getting killed at house parties trending up now?

For some reason the last few weeks there has been a huge increase in the amount of shootings in Albany. Multiple per day. That's highly unusual for the area.
Gun violence is up (dramatically) in state of NY

You did.

Civil unrest + summer heat + declining intelligence =

violence.

Add in elected officials who care more about their social media status than they do about law and order ... Civilized society is like a wounded offensive line facing an all out blitz on every play.
Now it's a party

Welcome to the 70s. Let's hope we don't revisit the late 80s.

You are right. Nothing worse than cowering officials afraid to take on racist cops.
Crime is up and will continue to rise in NJ and NY
SGMen : 6/28/2020 5:55 pm : link
I would hate to be a cop right now.

Everyone knows racism exists and will continue to exist for many reasons. A lot of the crime is not by minorities either and I'll leave it at that.
sign of the times?

A shooting death at a party in the USA? Seems to be a pretty common occurrence in my lifetime.
Anyone

ever notice that when a thread starts to turn nasty and political before it is deleted or closed, that certain posters always seem to be around?

He’s so bad it’s drawn me into the political conversation. Literally... the guy is so horrifyingly bad I am now interested in politics. He transcends politics.

Hopefully I don’t get banned since I didn’t say its name. Not even sure it is human.
sign of times

As an old man without being political I would say 2 sign of times

1. Loss of respect for life and values that come from any religions bible. When I grew up and when my children were in the house house parties might lead to some property damage related to smoking and drinking and rarely a fight but not gun violence. That was not heard of.

2.There has definitely been an increase in violence in the part of NY in which I live. Since the murder in Minneapolis there have been at least 30 shootings in Albany with at least 4 deaths. The most recent murder was right outside my office. The person arrested for the murder was free in the community awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to shooting a 3 year old. He will now be charged for this murder as a juvenile so he may be in out soon.

Takes two to tango......
I wonder if being cooped up for 3 months

and all the stress that brings (not to mention the tangible things like unemployment, illness, or death, has anything to do with it? At it's peak, people were doing uncivilized things like hoarding, etc. Now, with the new release, you have the extremely cautious mixing with the exuberant. The order and control mingling with the individual freedom guys who just got out of solitary. I honestly think that it's less political (but you guys...some of you guys... have no capacity to see anything as not bolstering your agendas/ideologies) but more psychological.
This happened in the late 60's...
BamaBlue : 6/29/2020 7:32 am : link
it's the social/societal transition of generations that were raised on the greatness of American and the ability to work hard to reap the rewards at their fingertips. And a new, mostly cynical group of younger people that believes that America and the world is hosed-up and they want to tear down traditional institutions, but don't yet have a plan to make things better...
I'm still..
FatMan in Charlotte : 6/29/2020 7:50 am : link
trying to figure out how a shooting at a house party in NJ is relevant to Albany.
